Describe your hallucinations if you don't mind.

Depression doesn't usually lead to hallucinations.

1. Are you taking any new meds? Some pain killers mixed with antidepressants can cause serotonin syndrome.
2. Being depressed, are you sleeping? Extreme sleep deprivation can lead to hallucinations ... for me it was about 4 days without sleep.

See hearing & hearing things. Anytime of day, usually when I'm alone, but it can when I'm with a few people.

Yea, I sleep a lot,& I am not currently on any meds.

That was why I asked if you could describe your hallucinations. There are many different reasons for them and no one here will be able to diagnose you or give you the absolute reason why. We can however provide our experiences and symptoms and reasons and offer support. Ultimately you should see a doctor.

If they are not frightening or intrusive and do not cause you discomfort there is not as much urgency. My auditory hallucinations cause me no problems and rarely do I have visual ones. For me it's mostly delusional thinking. But if your hallucinations are causing you discomfort, anxiety, and or fear, you need to speak to a doc as soon as you can.

It's possible to get psychotic with severe depression but not as common. Bipolar can also include psychosis and is more common with BP. Schizoaffective, and schizophrenia, Schizotypal can include hallucinations.

Of course there are other reasons too. Lack of sleep, drugs, paranoia, stress, shock, grieving, and prolly more too.

So definitely see a doc and get the ball rolling!

I'm glad you realize between reality and hallucinations. Could be medical or emotional. I would check it out with a doctor. Good luck!
