I think I know what I need -- someone who can "sponsor" me though depression and suicidal thoughts the way people are sponsored through AA or NA or other 12 step programs.

Does that exist? Is there "Depression Anonymous" or "Suicidal Ideation Anonymous"? If not, there should be.

I would love to have one understanding, non-judgmental person who I could turn to at any time, 24/7, to just pour my heart out or even get a kind word, to get myself through the rough spots.

I'm trying to think of who in my life would be willing to take on this kind of responsibility and would be of the right mindset to handle it. I actually know of a couple of people, but I think this is a lot to ask.

It would really help, though.

I agree, those kids of groups would be nice. A therapist can help some, but they aren't available 24/7.

I mentioned that to my T that I needed a sponsor my bulimia when I felt a binge/purge or just a purge coming on. Nothing exsists and there are no support groups close enough to me.

This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.

whats wrong?

I dunno I think you are meaning a life coach. Have u tried spiritual means. Personally. I'm not happy on the inside either, my life is not going well and I been upset about a few issues and I don't know what to do. I'm constantly crying and just upset all the tine. I HATE MY LIFE! I don't really know who I can turn to. all I do id cry now. What can I do, nobody is willing to speak or help me through my issues. I know what u mean, about spilling out your soul, to someone. I just wish I had someone to constantly be there and listen and just hug me.

I came across a couple of 12-step programs. Emotions Anonymous - a 12 step anonymous program appears to be the most active. Hope that's what you're looking for.
Thanks for this!
