I've signed a 2 year lease here in Philly at a really good rent price range and I'm going to save like crazy the duration of that time.
I want to get out of Philly when the lease ends. I want to go to Ohio. I don't know why but I'm feeling a pull towards that state. Every person I've known from that state has been really "good people".
I want to know if anyone knows anything about it or what it's like, what the people are like or what different the different areas are like?
Please let me know if you're familiar with it there from passing through or vacationing or even lived/lives there or know someone who lives there. I'm going to start my research now so by the time the 2 years go by I'll be ready to go. Thanks much.

My dad was born in OH. ONe of my uncles was a congressman there. But those are long gone days. I think the areas will continue to change even over the 2 years Know anything about Ohio?

Wanna be a buckeye eh? Hey, everyone I've met from PA has been "good people."

I'm in southwestern ohio and the people are great! It's close enough to KY to enjoy its beauty as well as the southern foods and comfort. It pretty around here, but I love the people.

I've lived alot of places, and next to the carolina's, Ohio takes second...southern, ohio that is. Know anything about Ohio?

Hey Jax.. I've lived in NW Ohio all my life. Theres alot to say about it I think. If you want to pm me with questions I'd be happy to answer them there!! Its got the Good Bad and the Ugly like just about everywhere. The only other place I'd rather live would be in Nashville, or somewher in TN Or VA. SO I guess that is saying alot about Ohio!!!

Hello I live in Ohio Northeast Ohio. Columbus, and cincinnati, may offer more jobs. I live near Youngstown. There is a Job site you can look up on the internet, if it is available in your area called SCOTI. ( SCOTI is a self-search) job search. This may give you a better outlook as to what is available if you would like to work in Ohio, so that you know where you might like to move, in the future. Take care Sincerely Soidhonia

My little brother and sisters live in Ohio, and honestly I hate the area they are in. There is nothing good I could even say about it.

I haven't had much experience outside of that one area though. Maybe its just been the times I have been there also.

PM me if you want more information from me. I don't want to offend anyone.

I'm from Indiana, and I lived very close to the Ohio line and visited frequently. Ohio is a laid back state with tight knit communities. There are plenty of conveninet locations and lots of job oppurtunities. It's very mellow but has some ugly winters. I always liked Ohio, but some of the highways can be terryfing.

Gem I have to say there are parts of Ohio that are Ewwww. BUT there is also alot of really neat areas. Your not going to offend me if you want to say what you think about it. I am sorry that you've had such bad experiences .

Desirae~ You kinda hit the nail on the head there. BUT Indiana's highways are bumpy lol. At least we got good roads ! lol. Nice blacktopped roads .. smooth riding no cement like Indinaner lol.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your comments and the information. I need to study the different towns so I will know where what neighborhoods are where. I think I'm going to move closer to the areas near Pennsylvania. I don't know which areas they are but I'll figure it out.
Thanks again. I have a good feeling about this. As far as finding a job there goes, I'm hoping I can continue my cleaning business there.

In my personal opinion, stay out of OHIO! According to me, my mom, and my sister, Ohio is our least favorite state (or maybe place in general). But if you can make a good life in Ohio, then more power to you. Good luck! But remember the words of the cartoon, Animaniacs: "All is strange and vague. Are we dead? Or is this Ohio?"

I've been to Columbus and liked it. You should go "vacation" in Ohio yourself, it's only 2/3rds of a day away from Philly on the PA Turnpike. My impression is it's nice green, rolling hills. My great grandfather was born in Ohio, up by Cleveland, but left for Minnesota (Minneapolis area) when he was 5-6. I imagine Ohio's changed a little bit from the 1850's? :-)

I love getting "pulls" like that to another place. You should look at your family history and see if there was someone from Ohio. I'm getting pulled to Idaho, where I'm going to visit in the Spring.

I live in Ohio and we love it here. The lake is something else - lake erie islands are a blast. Cleveland has the rock hall of fame, great museums, theater, symphony, libraries, major league sports (well - they mostly stink but we do have them). Being close to the Lake means that the sky is often cloudy and grey in the winter so if you suffer from SADD, then you want to be further south of lake erie. Columbus is an fun place - Ohio State, State Fairgrounds. Can't say about other areas in Ohio as I've only lived in the Cleveland area & the Columbus area.

I've found the people in OH to be friendly and warm.

Thanks again. I think visiting there first is a good idea. Once I can take some time off from work then I'm going to do that. I hate long drives though-my dogs aren't too crazy about them either. But I think this one will be worth it. Ah, green rolling hills. That's just what I need.

I live in the NW part of Ohio and we are Flatlanders here lol.. But you start to get around Bellfontaine and they get to be rolling hills there. There is a place to ski there too. Its quite pretty in the fall with all the colors. I think Dayton and Cincinatti are hilly too. The SE part of Ohio is really pretty . Lots of wildlife there also. I cant remember much about the NE part though. Even though we used to go to Sea World alot when I was younger. I like living here. I am about an hour away from Ft Wayne Indiana.. which is really nice for shopping also. Columbus is about 3 hrs away. Lima about 15 minutes away and they have decent shops there too and a mall good restaurants etc. Cincinatti is about 4 hrs away give or take about 15 min according to traffic. Hope this helps some!!! Ohh and Cleveland is about 3 and a half hrs away

Hi SweetSunshine,
That helps me out a lot. I wish I were moving sooner than a couple of years. Well, at least it will give me time to sort things out and save money. I have to figure out a way to get my business started over there as I'm living here so when I move there I can get right to work. I think an advertisement in the Yellow pages should do the trick. I have to find out when the cut off date is for ads, the year before I plan to move.

Hey Petunia,
A lot of those PCers are very nice people. Know anything about Ohio? Are you from that area, too?

They are all my friends Jax, it was tongue in cheek. Sorry. I apologize if I offended anyone. I forget humor can be an issue.

Sorry again,

I thought you were from Ohio and that's why you joked about it. I wasn't offended at all. I know you wouldn't be mean to anybody on PC. I don't see it in your nature. You're very kind to everyone. I understood you were playing. ((((((((Petunia))))))))) No issues. I like humor. I like you. No apologies needed.

Never mind. I'm better off not posting. EVERYTHING I write gets misunderstood. Now I remember why I stopped coming here.
Thanks anyway.
