I talked to my little brother the other day for the first time in over a 2-3 years. He went from child to young man, I was amazed at how similar we sounded when I was that age...which makes me kind of nervous.
Anyway, it was great to finally hear from him. We've also been getting calls from other non existent family members. It's amazing how they route back up before Christmas. Well, I remember last time I talk to my ahole dad, he told me my brother was dememnted and they hadn't been seeing each other. Well, it comes to find out that they hadn't seen each other in a year and half. I told my brother I thought that was bs, and he says "as long as dad is happy, that's what matters". It made me sad to hear that 'he' does not matter.

It is funny what comes out of the woodwork around Christmas :-) I have a stepsister and I only see/hear from her and her children and their children during Christmas. I go to her house for Christmas dinner and have to bring the ham to feed the 15-25 of us (mostly children). I get cards from people I haven't heard of and some that I haven't written to/gotten in touch with which makes me feel guilty in reverse :-)
