Orange Bowl

<font color="blue">As some of you know I am an Ambassador with the Orange Bowl Committee (and also the SuperBowl XLI Committee..)

Today, after the Coaches Luncheon, I was helping those who had won team helmets put them into the keep sake boxes... when one of the helmets from the tables was returned, unclaimed. I squirrelled it away out of sight, though someone offered me plenty of money for it.

After a bit of time, a large...I mean FOOTBALL PLAYER large gentleman asked me for the helmet... to which I told him I was not authorized to give it out. He was quite nice, dropped his name and I remained firm but nice also.

After another bit of time, he returned with another gentleman... Some "guy" with a nametag of Albert Dotson... President. He asked me to give the helmet to the other gentleman, also giving me his name (I promptly forgot it again, though he is a "famous" football player.) I jokingly told Mr Dotson that my name is....xxxx and if I get into trouble for this, I will be calling him. He laughed and then informed me that, I am the President of the Orange Bowl Committee and IF I get into trouble, HE is the one they will call!!!" We shook hands and I gave the man the helmet.

Volunteering with brain fog can have it's moments.

Yeah as we were discussing before .. one of the local schools here have their band down there to play in the parade. Its my husbands alma mater . Its kinda exciting to see someone local playing down there.

Wow, well at least the President of the Committee knows now that you do your job very well.
I mean, if the football player had to come with the president before you would give him his helmet, then the president should realize that he can really trust you to do your job well.
I agree, though, he should have given you something for the job well done!!

well there are plenty of others who work very hard at making sure all these events happen and happen "well."

Normally, I would have remembered the list I read of who's who... and I should have known who my "boss" was... but I have been suffering such fatigue, I almost didn't go today...but took it one step at a time (I'll get up. Ok, I can get dressed...) and ended up there on time!

Tomorrow is the Pre game party! I'm too tired to go, but want SOOOOO to experience the event!

At least I know the teams playing! But I forgot the time of the game LOL

Wow you are awesome Sky. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to begin organizing such an event. Too bad you couldn't keep the helmet yourself. After all you deserve it. Way to hang tough though. Now on to preparations for the Superbowl? Mind boggling.

Weelllll I just saw the coin toss on tv for the Orange Bowl...and Mr Albert Dotson Jr tossed it...yep he is who he said he is

Sky just saw the opening and toss too, did you get to meet Ali ? Gary is spouting off here at home "well you know we have a friend on the committee", acting like a rooster so proud

heheheh. I met sooo many famous coaches and players and didn't have a thought about autographs... only one area where you could ask for one anyway...and I was busy...can't keep college guys straight anyway I couldn't even recognize the President??? With my hearing difficulty, I first thought he said he was the ACC President now THAT got my attention!
