This is so scary. All those poor dogs and cats out there who are getting sick and dying. I don't believe only 16 of them have died from it though. I think the number is easily going to hit the hundreds. I hope it doesn't but there are too many pets who eat those brands of food out there. Rat Poison found in pet foods
How could this happen and why did it take so long for them to figure it out? It doesn't make sence. I hope the company responsible for this gets the crap sued out of them and they go out of business. This is terrible.
Luckily I feed my dog Pedigree and it's not on the list. Still, I think I'm going to feed my babies "people" chicken and rice and some dog vitamins.
Does anyone know any dog food recipes that aren't too complicated nor expensive? I'd like to try that.

I hope everyone's pets are okay.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From that, if true, I see that they DO say it had to have been done deliberately by someone, that it took the two labs set up after the 9/11 attack to find the cause, and that ALL the food December on has been recalled... all things I suspected and related to my attorney already. (He tried calling me again today, but I can't handle talking about it all today. It will wait til Monday... I'm worried about what happened to my puppy because they found all sorts of bacteria in his body... but of course they didn't do testing for poisoning. But why would rat poison cause bacteria? Or.. maybe.. sorry I'm thinking out loud here... maybe the "cancer fighting aspect" of it killed his natural antibodies?

Just more questions. Rat Poison found in pet foods

I wonder what the long term effect on him will be... I know many animals are on medications for life, but they had begun to have renal failure... I caught puppy before he got to that point (but real close I think.)

What's kewl though... at the Vet's there are serveral veterarians... the one who saved Caleb is the one who put my Figaro down for me... Rat Poison found in pet foods Rat Poison found in pet foods What a mix of emotions!

Also Friday, the company that produced the food expanded its recall to include all 95 brands of the "cuts and gravy" style food, regardless of when they were produced.

SO DON"T FEED THEM THESE PRODUCTS NOW! No matter when they were made... until things are straightened out. Please.

Oh it's really hitting me... Rat Poison found in pet foods I was feeding my precious puppy rat poisoning! Rat Poison found in pet foods

"Symptoms of poisoning
One article states that damage is done after a few hours of exposure, meaning fast first aid and medical treatment is critical. [10]

As for symptoms, .....weight loss as one symptom of exposure. Another source lists additional symptoms: "Signs and symptoms of acute exposure to aminopterin may include nausea, vomiting, anorexia, stomatitis (inflammation of the oral mucosa), pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx), erythematous rashes (red rashes on the skin), hyperpigmentation (abnormally increased pigmentation), chills, fever, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and renal failure (especially in high doses). "

Caleb lost weight (5 lbs in less than a week), he had quit eating and cut way back on drinking, and had trouble breathing through his snout, he had chills and fever (we all thought it might be from his round of puppy shots).. but he had vomitted once before that I saw... and then on Monday morning early he had to go out to vomit... and I took him back to the vet. The announcer on a local TV station just came on... he had to put his cat down. Rat Poison found in pet foods

Ok I'm going to try not to fall apart over this... we're still battling this with Caleb... he doesn't drink alot yet... and he has some other problems I won't discuss here... oh my RAT POISONING!

The wheat was from China, for what it's worth.

"Idaho veterinarian Marty Becker, who has been tracking the number of reported deaths through his Pet Connection Web site, said he has received 241 reports of pet death from the food so far. "

brown rice, chicken neck bones (they don't splinter into the food) canned green beans, tomatoes and dice some potatoes. i crush a few calcium tablets and add them (advice of vet) and i throw in some pasta (whole wheat)......it turns out to be very inexpensive if you cook a big pot of it. and you KNOW that it's healthy then. green peas are also good. i also sometimes use a can of jack mackerel fish. it's so easy and my dogs do not get sick. the only things that have happened to my dogs in 15 years were outside caused things. fayeroe was stabbed by burglars and lita ate a bone that a neighbor gave her....without me knowing it........remove all bones from the cooked food. you're putting them in there for the calcium to leech out......

i free portions of it. it stays fresher. if you can get gizzards that you don't suspect are full of chemicals, those are excellent.

Pet connection has been having people add recall sickness and death. The death numbers there are over 1000 already. These are self-reported numbers, but it really shows the extent of this. Its just so sad.
