While I enjoy Christmas and Thanksgiving, I cannot bear New Year's. It's just another reminder of how lonely and pitiful I am. I'm 32, haven't been invited to any New Year's function and get criticized for it. I don't like parties in general, which is another problem for me, since what person my age doesn't like parties? Plus everyone will be ringing it in with their dates while I'm stuck by myself watching football, the Rose Parade, and more football. Ah, just another day for pitiful old me

I don't even get invites, so welcome to the club! It's just another day.

I get invitations but I rarely go. I was present at a lot of new year's eve parties but only because it was part of my job. I suppose I just don't get the whole "new year" thing.
I'm sure there are alternatives to parties and tv. Maybe you can find one if you feel the urge to do something.

Ak482 and Pegasus lets invite each other to a cyber New Years eve function.

It'll make up for the fact that I don't get invited to any in real life.

And for the lack of Merry Christmas wishes from "friends" ... Cough .... I mean people I know.

Taking my kids to see fireworks tonight.
Thanks for this!

Here's my New Year's Eve plans: I'll be alone (I do have a boyfriend, but he has to work New Year's Eve), so I'll be watching Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin ring in the new year on CNN.

I will be alone, but I will be laughing.

I dont want to be out in the cold, literally, or drive on the road because of the car crashes etc, as i was already hit by a drunk driver in my life i dont want that to happen again

So yes, I'm alone with my dog, cat, hermit crab and fish on New Year's Eve. My 8 yr. old daughter is with my ex-husband and his girlfriend at a party. Sounds bad, but really I don't think it is. I'm not really gonna say it's 'just another day', but I'm ok with a few drinks, MARATHONS!!....Twilight Zone, Odd Couple, Honeymooners. Shrimp cocktail, home made fried rice. I do have a guy in my life I'm not completely excited about and I rather spend my night with myself rather than him lol! Try to enjoy the night

This is the perfect thread for me, I too am starting to intensely dislike New Years. Not least because I don't get invited anywhere. Last night I was perfectly content with watching Billy Elliott Live on DVD and then Adam Lambert performing with Queen!
This was while my parents were out at friends they've know for years.
