So, how do you know if you are posting too much? I see my number of posts going up and I panic—I have tried to pick and choose what I comment on so it does not continue to climb so fast. Do people say, “Oh great, Depressme again?” I have not been a member here very long, but I have been very active. Part of me is afraid that I post too much—maybe people don’t want me to comment so much. Part of this is my insecurity that people don’t really want to hear what I have to say—my thoughts are not worthy of people’s time. Part of me feels “greedy” or something for using this site so much.

I have this fear that admin is going to send me a message telling me I am only allowed to post a certain number of posts per day. Maybe suggest I take a day off. Maybe kick me out or something.

At work I have a computer and I check in to the site throughout the day and then at night I am on my computer doing homework, so I also check in often. My life is centered around my computer. Being able to post about depression, substance abuse, therapy and such has been so healing for me. It really has helped my therapy—it brings up new thoughts and feelings—helps me look at things in novel ways. And at times, when I can be supportive of somebody else, I feel real good about it. I took an inventory and determined that my work and school performance have gotten better since I have joined PC. Maybe having an outlet for my thoughts has helped me focus more on work and school.

I have started a blog, so I can post as much as I want and I think that has been a good outlet for me. But, I have even obsessed about it…I limit my blog posts to one per day, although sometimes I think I’d like to post about 2 topics not just one. So, I am even insecure about my own freakin blog.

I feel compelled to share my story. I feel like I almost “need” to tell people who I am…I feel like I have hidden my life for too long and having the freedom to tell people about it is almost intoxicating (in a good way).

So, I don’t know…anybody else ever feel this way? Am I just being insecure or am I really posting too much?

Sorry this is such a long post, but I’m a graduate student—that’s what we do—we write…and write and write. When we are not writing we are reading…

I'm like you... I write, and write, and write... It's part of my job and I do it when I'm not working too. I need to get things out. I think that's healthy... I hope. Help! Am I posting too much???

Okay, yeah, you have me "beat." Maybe I am just being paranoid. I just thought you were a longtime member. Well, I have always appreciated your comments...

DePressMe no one is going to tell you to stop posting or limit you or kick you out or anything of the sort. I am glad the forums are helping you. That is what the site is for; to help people.

It sounds like you have gone a long time without sharing with people. Maybe that is why you are so eager to do so in a safe environment?

I am glad that PC is helping you and hope it continues to do so. I am here and I am listening. Take care and post away!

Nope. I'm not a long-time member. I'm new, but I never shut up... I talk a lot IRL too. Help! Am I posting too much???

I'm like you. I spend a lot of time on my computer. I bring work home with me and am usually working on something during the evenings and weekends... Popping in here to do some reading and posting is a nice little break and I think it has been good for me. I hope I'm not getting on anyone's nerves.

I enjoy reading your posts. You're insightful, interesting and thoughtful. Don't be paranoid about posting too much.

Posting too much, what's that? Help! Am I posting too much??? But really, I think the only time there was a problem with somone posting alot was they we're really posting anything of a supportive nature, and some of it was outlandish? Plus, that was years ago when the site was much "smaller."

Part of the problem here lately IMO is that not enough ppl are posting. IDK, I happened to cut back to reading only 12 forums regularly...and I'm quickly done and almost bored. Help! Am I posting too much???

I doubt any moderator or admin would stop anyone from posting as long as the posts are genuine posts for support or of support... or just good fun in social Help! Am I posting too much???

Help! Am I posting too much??? otherwise, wouldn't my PM mailbox be full? Help! Am I posting too much???

(((((((((((( DePressMe ))))))))))))

I certainly don't think you can post too much! Help! Am I posting too much???

Writing here at PC is very healing.

Post when it helps you, when you need to and when you feel you want to.

If you feel you are spending too much time here then go for a walk or something and then you will come back fresh.

No worries at all, it's good to have you here. Help! Am I posting too much???

Hi De,

You seem to be a very nice, supportive member. When a person first becomes a member he/she can only post a certain amount of times per day. After that, you are welcome to post as often as you wish as long as you follow the site's guidelines.

Please don't be uneasy about the mod/admin team. We are here to help members, not hurt them. If you ever need something you can always pm me or one of the other members of the team.

I wish you the very best,

Jan

I also felt I was posting too much & revealing too much. Like you said we've been keeping our thoughts & emotions hidden for so long that it is a great release to let them out & not have people respond with "Boy, are you sick!"

I have revealed things here that I can't tell my husband. I'm too vulnerable to criticism from him. Yet, I don't feel criticized here.

So keep posting. I've enjoyed your posts & I'm also quite "wordy" even though I'm a college droupout.--Suzy

All of you guys are just fabulous! You make me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. You know, I have never thought anybody else posted too much, so I don’t know why I would think that about myself…other than I am just a little insecure. Maybe with your guys help, I can get over that. And, I even posted to my web blog twice in one day. I just decided it is mine and I can write however much I want, about as many topics as I want. What the web blog police gonna come and get me? I hope everybody has a wonderful day.

Definetely keep posting as much as you want!!! Talking about things takes the power out of them and we can unburden ourselves just a bit. The anonymity here makes it possible to discuss things we might not want to talk about in real life.

Admin and the modsquad wouldn't dream of telling anyone they post too much. Without people posting, PC wouldn't exist!
