Echoes, a very adult, intelligent way to handle it! People here know I don't like to gossip or to read things where someone picks on a person or two and trashes them. F.T.W.

Good idea!

I have never received a rude PM either. I personally would just ignore the PM.. click.. delete.. gone.

But if I felt strongly about receiving a particular kind of PM, then I thnk it would be an approriate situation to practice assertiveness, clearly and directly enforcing a personal boundary about gossip. It would be my only response and it would be in a PM. It wouldn't be at all appropriate to do on a thread; I'm sorry if I wasn't clear on my original reply.

Your suggestion of blocking is good. That's what it's there for.

That may be what they want if their intention is to start trouble. If they are just ranting or otherwise, at least the original PMer will understand that Echoes, or whoever answers in that manner, isn't the right person to do that with.

Thanks for your feedback on this everyone.

PM's are that...*private* messages. If a member PM's you inappropriately, please contact admin. If a member PM's you with gossip, etc., and it's not to your taste or liking you can either respond that you don't care to read that and continue on in PM contact, or place the member on ignore.

Really, your experience there is at your fingertips to manage for the most part. If you're highly sensitive, you can turn PM's off altogether and will only view the forums where the posts/threads can be monitored.

Thanks!

KD
