I found out yesterday that a friend from another website had died a few months ago. Her passing is somewhat of a mystery right now, but myself and another friend of mine are trying to find out more about what happened. This person was as outgoing as someone could be without giving out personal info about themselves. This is why it's difficult now to find out what's happened to her. I understand the need to keep our anonimity on the net. But, and I can't stress this enough, if you come here regularly an make some friends, chose one that you think you can trust. Give this person at least your phone number, or, leave a note for someone in your real life telling them how to contact us, so that if something happens to you, we will know. You'd be amazed how quickly your presence here can touch so many lives.
In closing I want to say G, it was a pleasure to know you, and you will be missed by many. My love goes with you. Save a place at the table... Greg  |

You know, I've thought about this. If something were to happen to me, how would some of my best friends--this site--know? Perhaps DocJohn could have a private phonebook or contact list for each of us willing to participate. In case someone seems to be "missing" on the site and everyone is concerned, Doc might then have a way to find out. Or in alternate, we give word to our home family to contact DocJohn. I'm sure Doc never thought about adding private emergency contact information. I really would be something to consider to have someone in charge of everyone's data. And for a site such as this in mental health, there could be benefits. If someone is very depressed, a phone call of support and caring concern could prove to help. Anyway, Greg, I wouldn't mind participating in giving someone my phone number. Good idea!

Greg,
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I have been through that situation at another site, but we were lucky that the man's son also came to the site, so he let everyone know of his father's passing. I hope you can find out more about your friend. It is amazing how close you can get to people online. *hugs* Jo

Wow,, this comes as a shock, so very sorry to hear this, and even sadder it can sooner or later be one of us. . .

I am sorry for your loss. I do think that would be a good idea though about leaving info with someone here online. It would hurt a great deal to know that something had happened to any of the people I care about here. Mary Alice

I haven't been to that site in a long long time but as soon as I read the letter "G", I knew exactly who you were talking about. I never got to know her but I'm glad you are caring enough to find out more. Everyone should have one person they feel they can trust in this world, even if it's just on the net. I'm glad you made this request Greg, it's a good one and I hope everyone takes it to heart.
