When I read I always have to reread sentences because I'll forget what's going on or I won't understand. It takes me longer to read something than anyone around me. It's like my mind is either blank or too much is going on. I have a psychotic disorder, but I don't know if that contributes to this.

After my breakdown it took me ages to get back my ability to read. I would say that it took me a good two years to be able to concentrate and comprehend what I was reading once again. So, I really understand where you're coming from. Even now I don't read for pleasure as much as I used too. I'm not sure, but I imagine that your disorder can affect your ability to read.

Sometimes it might take a while for your body to adjust to the meds or the disorder. Hours is right it takes time.

I have the same problem. I can't concentrate well enough to read quickly or even at all if it a long text. Sometimes it's like I can't stop my ongoing thoughts long enough to read.
Even reading posts on PC I have to give up reading the long ones. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It took me about 2 years to be able to read again after I almost died. It was very slow going at first and I had to reread everything. Now 5 years later I read about 8 hours per day. My reading comprehension is still held back by my meds like Risperidone, Cymbalta, Trazodone, etc.

I definatley think my meds stop me from reading comprehention that is good. i basically read posts here, i know some of you probably can tell my comprehention isn't so great just by my replies, i never mentioned this before either. I did have a problem with one of my replies recently and was very sorry i misunderstood the post. good luck and have a great 4th.
