they just said on the news that Ga is burning at both ends. wildfires are now in the mtns here as well as south ga. thousands of acres are burned and still burning. really hoping none start closer to me.

right now I am very safe. I am at the foothills or beginning of the mtn range here in Ga. the fire up here is a long way away so far. just hope we don't get more. lightening caused this lastest one. kids started the big one that jumped into florida here. burned probably over 200k acres

The fires have been bad here in Florida, too. I had to shut my windows and turn on the AC last week because the air was so smokey from the fires in the center of the state. I kept waking up and the stench made me feel like I was living in an ashtray.
If anyone is interested, there are some very good aerial photographs that show how extensive the fires are in Georgia and Florida. So sorry to hear that this is getting worse, Bebop.

they said this morning over 240,000 acres down there burned now. not sure how many yet in north ga.

How sad. And how scary. My husband just found out that he has to go to GA this week for business. I sure hope he doesn't have travel problems and that he's not anywhere near them.

garden is he going to Atlanta? if so the fires are in north ga and south ga. middle is safe.

You know... I never heard of so many huge fires burning out of control until I'd been in California for a few years. Have we always had these fires or is it a relatively new development? Sign of the times?

Yes, Wants2Fly, I did check them out.
They were amazing, thanks for posting them. Edited to add--I just saw on the news they evacuated 725 homes because the fire jumped the barrier.

I think we have always had the fires, just not the media to terrorize us with them?  Communication is so instant now... and then on slow news days, they take what they get on the wires.FL is having it's normal share. What wasn't too normal was the storm system that sat off the SC coast and blew all the smoke down onto the whole of the State!

yeah alot of the smoke even got as far north as Atlanta then the fires in n ga started last week.

WOW!! That's freaky!! If you look at the California map, you'll see the first big point of land sticking out then there's a small one. We live right on the point of the small one. I wasn't aware we had fires going on that close to us!!
 But then, it's been overcast the last couple of days here on the beach. They're probably not getting any help from the fog where the fires are/were. Thanks for sharing, Wants2!

I live right up near the SC border. the largest of our fires are about 300 miles away but this morning the winds changed and we can smell the smoke up here. waaaaaaa
