My father was a 22 yr marine...retired master sergeant (top) in the marine corps. He served three tours over seas and was a fine marine.

I recently received some of his replacement medals. Members of the Marine Corps Honor Guard were flown in for his burial...which the 2-yr-anniversary of his passing was not two weeks ago.

Thank you for asking, EJ.

My dad was in the Navy for over 20 years, and his two brothers were in the military as well, though I don't remember which branches. My brother did 3 years in the Army.

Wonderful question! Thanks for asking!

My Uncle Norman who was a Marine
My Uncle Burns who served in the Army
both in WWII

My dad who served in the Army and Merchant Marines during the Korean conflict.

My best friends brother who served in Viet Nam and was horribly injured and disfigured in his arms and legs, but was able to pull a buddy to safety who had lost his legs in the same blast.

My Great Uncle Frederick who served in the British Armed Forces in WWI

2 very dear friends, Graeme and Mick who also served in the British Armed Forces in the 1980's.

All who served in any conflict and war that we owe our freedom and liberties to!

God Bless Everyone!

Friends,

What a great roll call!!! Memorial Day Memories

My Dad was a naval aviator during WWI, and flew the wounded back from the Pacific.

One uncle fought in WWI as a Marine, and another in the Army.

Memorial Day Memories

My dad was 20 years in the Navy (last place we lived was Guam - yes there really is such a place!). He died 7 years ago. 2 days before his 69 birthday of mulitple myeloma. I miss him lots.

My oldest brother is retired from the Air Force and decided to stay in Anchorage Alaska.

The next brother down is retired Army and he now lives in Utah.

My nephew was in Korea for a little over a year and then was redeployed to Iraq (Ramadi). When they asked if he wanted to reinlist he gave a resounding no and thankfully came home alive. It's been almost 2 years and he still struggles.

my thoughts are with you all and with those still serving.

Tranquility

Tranquility,

I had no idea what I was unleashing when I started this thread.

My father was only in the Navy during WWII.

When you said you were born in Guam, it made me think if he had stayed in, I could have been born in Guam too! Memorial Day Memories

I heard recently that the government of Alaska pays people to live in Alaska -- kind of like a reverse income tax. Memorial Day Memories

Hugs,

EJ
