WOW. I did get a letter of non renewal. Did the letter say cancel or non renewal... there is a huge difference, and you need to not say cancel to other insurers if it's non renewal. BUT they changed their minds??? GRRRR

I don't believe in coincidences... gotta work on this one more...

We were with them for two weeks. They came when no one was home to do an inspection. Sent us a cancellation letter saying due to structural conditions and a VICIOUS breed of dog. Vicious was just like that, in capital letters.

Our insurance agent told us they had taken a picture of her from outside of the screened lanai, looking into our glass sliding doors and decided she was a chow, and they don't insure dangerous dogs. Homeowner's insurance problem

Did they agree to cover you, or was it contingent upon the inspection? By law, insurance companies must give policy owners 100 days notice of cancellation or non renewal.

That's just it. Our agent never said it was contingent. He wrote that policy up like all was well. So, we are holding them responsible. We are waiting a few days to see if they can get us reinstated.

Either way we are dropping them and filing a complaint.

Hub just got off the phone with someone who gave us the name of their insurance agent (who he knows personally) and will hopefully hook us up.

Sigh.

Ok. You know, it took me 3 agents to get one who understood what I was saying. Maybe they also had a mixup in their office over your "inspection" and the dog and roof? Make sure you talk with a supervisor, and ask about for a written policy of what types of pets and dogs they won't cover under regular homeowner's, and the availability of a liability rider.

Did you get an insurance binder from the agent? Did you pay monies? I think those would allow you the 100 day, and if they didn't give you 100 days, the complaint would be good. Merely mentioning the complaint to McCarty might cause them to rethink their actions towards you.

Agent said sixty-days, cancellation notice was 14.

I like the idea of mentioning McCarty. I was also going to mention the "8 On Your Side Problem Solver on News Channel 8" that helps consumers who get screwed. Homeowner's insurance problem

Well, I would immediately remind them of the State law stating 100 days...and how that, along with (whatever you have on them) would go into your complaint to Kevin McCarty in Tallahassee unless they see fit to adjust your policy with them. They may be jerking you around because they can, and do, to most people. They rely upon ignorance. Homeowner's insurance problem

No worries. I'm a little "on edge" so I might've "heard" it wrong.

It's all good.
