I'm currently cleaning the "junk room"....you know that spare room that has everything that you will deal with later...or can't find the right place for something.....!

My question is..........all those lovely drawings, art work, school books that you beautiful children make and do....are in this room.

What do I do with them.....?

I find it very difficult to throw them out. I have a section in the room with their work and this is full......I just can't bring myself to throw them out and I just keep stacking them in piles.

I know I'm a bower bird......... and Yes my farvorite colour is blue

How about getting a huge scrap book to put the drawings into? You can put a school picture from each grade for the drawings that were made in that class

Maybe put up some shadow boxes containing other trinkets made?? I'm not a real good one for ideas like this, but thats what came to my mind.

How about taking pictures of them? Then you can put them in a photo album.

Or, make up a storage box for each kid and let THEM decide what to keep.

You can buy large cardboard portfolios at art supply stores, and sometimes hobby shops, for next to nothing. Then you can select your favorite pictures, or papers that evoke special memories, put them in the portfolios, and slide them into the attic or garage or a corner of the closet. That way, you still have those precious pictures and they're protected from damage, but they're organized and not taking up much space.

You've reminded me it's time to clean out desk drawers around here again... our oldest daughter graduated high school today (sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I've been dying to mention it somewhere).

You could have them each choose the best item from each year, and throw out the rest (after taking pictures), or let the kids have the rest of their stuff. They will either take care of it or wreck it, after which it is easier to throw it out. Maybe they will get some use out of it first.

I kept one or two things for myself, and GAVE THE OTHER THINGS BACK TO THE CHILD- NOW ADULT. Let them share them with their children, or toss them.

If your children are still young and with you, then have them select their favorites. They might add a page saying why they picked them (which would add specialness to them)... and then store those away in one of the suggestions above.
