I'm constantly overthinking everything, whether it be what people think of me, an answer to a question, or how to respond when someone speaks to me. Usually, when I speak to someone and they're response (according to my mind) seems annoyed or agitated, I become afraid that I've said something mundane, irrelevant, or stupid.
Thanks in advance. |

Not everything has to be a mental illness sometimes people just need life skills training.

You seem just a bit anxious, really. Honestly, it would be better to learn how to move past these fears than it would be to label them.
But, if you would like a name anyhow I've mentioned it in my first sentence. |

aren't lack of life skills part of mental illness itself?

Says who? Seriously. I've been told that I overthink things all the time - compared to what? Who is deciding what the correct level of thinking is? Perhaps, if you really do think more than everyone you know, perhaps they are underthinking. Worth considering...you know, if you like thinking about stuff.

I have been told few times that I overthink, stress too much, worry too much blah blah blah. But sometimes it is because others think and worry way too little, so I have to do it for them, eh.
It's not disorder. It's called overthinking and some people do it. It's good to learn how to turn if off, but it's just a personal trait often.

Have you always been like that, or can you remember when did it start? Any traumatic event, or did you just gradually developed those fears and suspicions? Whether or not people are thinking about you or things you said, know that whatever it is, it's not worth your time and you have to dismiss those thoughts and kick them away. Other people also say mundane, irrelevant, or stupid things all the time, so who's everyone else to judge you? My old self used to have the "to hell with everyone else" attitude, and I am bit by bit re-learning to empower myself again. You could probably benefit from therapy, is there any help available for you? I wish you all the best! ![]() |

i also think you would benefit with a t. i also overthink everything, and i've been told so by others too. i see a doc and therapist which help greatly. but-just because you think too much doesn't mean you have any illness. good luck

[QUOTE=irgendwie;4827506]I've always been this way. I think I'm just a generally anxious person, but sometimes it gets to a point in which I'm truly afraid there's something wrong. Thanks for the responses, everyone.[/Q
Hello dear "Green"] irgendwie. Hi there, and in answer to your post: though I'm not a medical person, I do know and suffer a number mental issues and problems such as you described. Yes, your 'over thinking' and 'analizing' situations (also keep going over events after they've happened) is indeed a sign of anxiety I'd say. I suffer GAD, that's general anxiety disorder. I'm either planning before an event what I'm going to say or not say, then whilst I'm talking I'm extremely conscious of myself and what I'm saying, then as soon as the even has finished I go over and over it all for hours afterwards. I go over what I 'should' have said, I go over what I 'shouldn't have said and this goes on all night if it's a late day event. I'm anxious from the time I start to be around people to the time I go to bed. Do you feel unconfident? I suspect you do, and are you very self conscious about everything you are or everything you 'appear' to be? I ask these questions because they both apply to me big time. I have BDD (body dysmorphic disorder) worry incessantly about how I look, i.e. do I look fat? I have eating disorders. Unfortunatly, my anxiety tends to show it's self by me sometimes seeming to be somewhat bolshy or stand~offish. It's a kinda self~protection thing. I always joke about myself, calling myself fat and ugly in a joking manor, trying to say it first, before anyone else says it. Yes, as someone else said, it would be a very good idea to see if you can see a therapist, if you are not already. I honestly think, as myself, it's a self esteem issue, though I'm NOT making light of this as it's a debillatating condition. Message me if you would like to, Take care.
