prescription drugs have side effects and rarely help. Get a good therapist that you can trust and re wire your own biochemistry without drugs.

I don't believe one should play doctor and try to figure out what to prescribe to themselves. That is what your doctor is for. Just describe your concerns and symptoms to your doctor and discuss with them what they think is best for you. It is okay to ask them questions about the medication they suggest.
I also have to ask what you mean about faulty thinking? By who's judgement is your thinking 'faulty'? Is this truly a psychiatric problem or are you surrounded by people who have different opinions than you? Or are you using the word 'faulty' to describe hallucinations or psychotic thoughts? |

I'm no doctor but I don't think a drug can change thoughts. The way we think is part of who we are, our attitude, and personality, faulty thoughts may be in response to depression or stress in which case the drug may help with our response, but if you are a glass half empty person it won't change that. Drugs don't cure our problems, they simply make it a little easier to deal with while we work on it typically in therapy. Drugs alone aren't very effective. My suggestion is to learn mindfulness to help you identify when you are beginning to have these thoughts. You can try ability if your doctor thinks it will help you, but don't give up on yourself and your ability to effect your outlook on life.

Well, that's the problem with big Pharmas in the US, they have no rules as to what they can do regarding setting their prices, so they charge us poor consumers out the rear for the meds we need and our insurances pick up the tab while the Pharmas pocket the tab. Those without insurance sometimes go without necessities just so they can pay for the meds they need to be healthy or even alive.
But that's an argument for a different thread, really. I'm glad you got everything sorted out with your doctor.
