Hello sinking: Well... I believe this is at least part of what therapy is supposed to do... or at least some therapy. Where I live, therapy nowadays pretty-much ignores what's causing one's symptoms & simply tries to help people deal with it on a day-to-day basis. I guess it's cheaper... supposedly. However, I presume that there are still some therapies that still try to help people understand what caused them to develop mental health problems to begin with. I just don't know where one goes to find it.

Beyond that, I don't know the answer to your question. My past is just a gnarled ball of wire that will never be untwisted. I have no idea how I would ever even begin to figure it all out, or if that is even possible... maybe hypnosis or something of that sort? I see you live in Italy & I don't know how mental health services are provided there. But, if you can avail yourself of some therapy services that will help you to try to understand what has caused the difficulties you have, that would probably be the best way to at least get started. Good luck!

My therapist and I looked back at my past in the first instance to understand the present - ring round qualified therapists and see if they are willing to take you on. Under skilled questioning and support it is surprising what you can remember. They might well invite you for a preliminary session to see if their skill-set matches your needs. There will almost certainly be at least one therapist who can help - good luck, I am sure you deserve it.

to find out what my problems are my first step is contacting my medical doctor, explaining to her what I am feeling and then she does an exam and tells me if the problem is medical or part of my medications. if so meds are adjusted/changed.

then I call my mental health treatment providers and talk with them. they diagnose what they can and if needed schedule me for diagnostic evaluations.

then after everything is said and done to diagnose what the problem is then I am treated for the problem. sometimes its therapy sessions, sometimes it medications, and sometimes its other forms of treatment depending upon whats causing the problem.

my suggestion talk with your or a treatment provider in your location. they will be able to tell you what your problems are diagnosed as and what treatment options are available to you.
Thanks for this!
