I have a problem that I can't really explain I touch everything around me and I have poor control over it and I don't know if this is normal for my age. However my mother says I am like a three year old that has to always have something in my hands. I feel like I am a monster for doing it maybe there something wrong with me developmentally and maturity wise. I really dont want to drive my mother crazy but I also can't really cope unless I have something in my hands. I can't really explain it is like if I am not holding something its not real and I am not here.

I understand this. If something appears to have a unique texture ( like a rubber sided wall I saw the other day) I must touch it.

I can be a clepto. I always have something in my hands, most frustrating part is when I set whatever it is down, and forget where I put it when I need it. Always lose my keys and phone, wallet etc. feeling like it's what ground you sounds like a coping mechanism and your mother should respect that.

I hate having my hands be empty. If they are empty I want to fidget with something.

i dont like leaving my hands empty, i must keep something in my hand, move it or at least do something or think.
im not sure why but it annoys me sitting doing absolutely nothing or thinking about nothing. its like my brain want to keep on working or it will end up exploding.

sometimes i do need to touch things just to make sure they are there

well i have the solution for you : When you repeat something for long time you make it a reality .And you make this mistake on your subconstient mind and ts implanted there and also the sugestion of your mather that you comport like a 3 year child agravate this problem .You must think the oposite idea and act oposite until you change it from your mind .You see you think almost that you make bad things etc you must think that you are mature serious etc and you will not break anything .You must be perseverent and do it continualy and after a time you will delete this bad habit from your subconstient mind

I long ago discovered that having something in my hand helps with getting through high anxiety situations. For instance, I visited a friend in the surgical unit of the hospital this weekend. I discovered when the visit came to an end I had sat there the whole time holding onto a package of gum. I do such things without realizing it; like picking up the toys sitting on my therapist's desk.

I suggested a solution to my mother but she dismissed it as stupid. I suggested making a stress ball that way I have something specialized in my hands instead of picking up makeup and distracticly put my makeup on walls etc

Sounds to me like you are not being supported. I think a stress ball is a great idea. I used to carry tooth picks with me. When I get fidgety I'd pop one in my mouth or play with one in my hands. Try to keep your chin up. :-)

Buy a racquet ball. They are the same size as a stress ball, or one of those kosh balls that are really squishy.
