I'm starting to understand that stigma is part of the diagnostic weapon sometime used against talented people who just don't fit in because they're surrounded by the dull and the morally bankrupt. It's become the assassin's bullet. I'm just not sure that people (or the state) not trained in mental health should go around and use that weapon (spread shade) to explain the quirks of the gifted, but they do and do so with glee. It's exclusionary, it's vile and frankly darkly evil.
I'm leaving another incompetent Therapist who made it clear she's not on my side (through deed not words) and therefore I'll have to edit my therapy sessions. Which makes me wonder, what's the point? There isn't any, so that's why I have to extricate myself. I think she was faced with conflictual dilemmas whilst I engaged in discussions that no doubt hit way too close to her hypocritical home. Of course, the sessions are not supposed to be about HER. It's truly disheartening.

Thank you for this thread Lost Prisoner!
A good therapist is really hard to find. Ive been thru many myself. Im really glad you brought up these points about stigma as a societal weapon. It is a horrible truth. Worldwide and through out all known documented history of this planet, the truly intelligent independent minded have been ridiculed, persecuted, shunned, locked up, shot down, and murdered. I have never understood why a species that prides itself on the idea that it is uniquely superior in its ability to thrive thru innovation and free will would be so fearful of the individuals who minds are capable of providing the foundation for foward evolutionary progress. Everything we have today in all aspects of society has been built off of such foundations, yet while revered in hindsight, most of these revolutionary geniuses were considered dangerous criminals and crazy lunatics in their lifetime. Only those who were already part of the financially and aristocracy elite or had proven compliancy by working diligently and with out individual reward within the parameters of the existing structure have been accepted in their time and allowed to apply their theories and supply ideas. If you follow this unwavering pattern of behaviour throughout our history; The true nature of our species becomes horrifying clear. Many have tried to expose this truth and plead to the masses to stand up against these stigmas and break the cycle, although they have been occasionally able to rally change, ultimately they are neutralized and then their martyrdom is used by society to create an illusion of forward progress that is adapted into the system and used as a smokescreen to revert right back to the status quo.... leaving the rest of us who would try right back at square 1... so i guess the best we can do is walk into the shrinks office wherever we are and sing a bar of Alice's Restaurant (preferably in 4part harmony and with feeling) and walk out.
^sorry i just couldnt resist

Not sure what I'm going to do? Even an incompetent Therapist is better than none; for at the very least feedback. But, like I said I have to edit so how helpful would that be in the long run?

I'm sorry but I don't understand how you mean 'edit' in this situation.
Thanks for this!

Feeling like you are not comfortable saying whats actually on your mind is definately conterproductive. Ive had msny therapists that i would feel misundetstood by and then get awkward and spend my sessions b.s.ing about minor stuff, small talk. Big waste of time. But you are right that it is important to have a thearpist to speak to if for no other reason just as part of your safety plan. I would continue seeing this therapist, while searching for someone who might be a better match. Look online ask around for reccomendations find out about insurance/ payment options. Some therapists do free intial visits/ phone interviews. Make a list of qualities you need in a T and also questions to ask in an intial meet. Therapy is not a "personal relationship", so you dont have to feel guilty or sneeky about exploring other options before "breaking up"with your current T. Hope you find what ur looking for. Good Luck!

Creative people with different ideas have been labeled "crazy" before, particularly if their ideas go against what is popularly accepted. That's nothing new. And the more someone "thinks outside the box" the more some people might think she/he is crazy.

But I don't think someone who is threatened by this is "morally bankrupt." They would more likely just be insecure or rigid, or both.

And don't forget, John Nash, who was extremely schizophrenic, won the Nobel Prize for Economics.
