His movements are still low, but he's turning around!!!! We had the non-stress test today and not only was it the best our little guy has ever had, it was PICTURE PERFECT!!!! He just showed his little self. His movements had still been low, but but he just rocked.

We went and he not only ROCKED on his NST with PERFECT accelerations everywhere but moved three times! He's turning around now that daughter is off the auto-immune drugs.

Praise God and thank you all! Please keep it coming.

Thanks guys. His movements weren't great yesterday, but they were improved to the last few weeks! I'm anxious to see about today.

Here's the thing...

Daughter's been hypothyroid due to over treatment...so not only was she hypothyroid she was getting drugs to make her moreso on top of that! He was getting both as well.

The most common thing that can happen is a thyroid goiter for the baby (daughter already has a huge one). They're doing a high risk ultrasound Thursday to check everything but mostly for goiter. We pretty much know he's been hypo recently, but if he has a large one that could tell dr's maybe how severe his got?

They can do a special procedure to draw blood from his umbilical cord, but we don't know if that will happen yet. They may wait to see if it stablizes on its own. If it doesn't now that she's off the drugs, they may do it then inject the drugs he needs right into the amniotic fluid.

My daughter's main concern at this point (outside of him being ok now) is what could a three week period of hypo done to him, his development. She talks with her OB today. Her OB is supposed to call the endo to find out what he's thinking and recommends.

I feel in my mother's/mammaw's heart that he's going to be just fine now. I really do. My head gets in my way sometimes, though.

I know continued hypo for mother and baby can cause alot of problems, and worse, but we're thinking he was only hypo for about three weeks.

We have to watch daughter closely now that she's off the drugs for hypo signs and watch/monitor her emotional stability as well. Going hyper can really do a number on the body AND mind.

my fingers are crossed for all of you kimmydawn. stupid stupid stupid OB. one of the most important things doctors should learn is if you havent the foggiest what you re dealing with REFER!! grrrrrrrrrrr. s/he should have contacted the other doc ages ago. im sorry you and your daughter and the wee fellow are having to deal with the consequences of the OB's arrogance.

The OB was to call her after he checked in with the endo. He did.

Guys, I tell ya, daughter and I BOTH felt like we were in a dream...where nothing made sense. She just cried and said, "Mommy, I've gone insane through all this now." She told me what the OB said and I told her, no, it's not her. Things aren't making sense.

Back up, Kim...

When the OB called he said that he'd talked with the endo and mentioned the miraculous improvement and glad she's off the PTU. Daughter said thanks, then went into the reasons why she wanted him to call her...how could her having been overtreated and them possibly both being hypothyroid affect the baby. His words? That's crazy. There's no way the baby's hypothyroid. Daughter told him what endo said about maybe even testing him with a special amnio and he said that was rediculous. She felt that she'd lost it. She just hung up and cried. She said, "See why I can't be happy, mommy? My life, but mostly my baby's life, is in the hands of someone who doesn't understand or something!" She just bawled.

I told her it wasn't her and that she needed to call her endo. She called and left a message for his nurse, saying she needed to know exactly what's happened and how it could affect her baby because she's getting confusing info. from her OB. There was no return call. She cried more when 5 p.m. came and went with no call.

At 8 last night her cell rings and she'd told her hubby to say that she wasn't there. He looked funny and said, "Babe, it's Dr. ****." God love his heart, she needed that so badly.

He personally called her and went through ALL of it, started with what could happen to pregnancy and baby for the hyper (which we already knew and never did happen in appearance...no tachycardia for baby, no early delivery, etc.) He said that one's actually more dangerous for mommy even though baby can be affected and that's what she's been very difficult in trying to manage. Her's is a very difficult case and has been from the start.

He then went into what could happen if she and the baby go hypothyroid, or overtreated with the auto-immune drugs. He said that the baby can suffer brain damage and that's the biggest concern with hypo, along with difficulty during pregnancy.

He did go on to say that he felt more reassured after speaking with OB than he did the day he saw us. He said that considering with how the OB said the baby's doing, and has all along, and the short window of time with overtreatment, he thinks the risk is minimal.

THANK YOU! That's what my daughter's screamed fought and kicked to hear and know...what could she be facing, her child facing, her hubby facing and what the risk is to that happening. So, while the OB still won't acknowledge it as even a possibility, the endo does. My daughter needed that.

She then went on to explain her OB's statements, the endo said (because he's not going to go against his colleague) that he thinks the OB is just concentrating on the hyper issues because that's the biggest concern for him in his job and get the pregnancy along and her delivered. The endo said that he himself, however, had to look at it ALL because he'll also be treating baby and momma after.

It still doesn't make OB's actions/statement/whatever OK but as long as it makes sense for my daughter and she knows that SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE is paying attention to what needs to be paid attention to, she feels better.

He also told her that she would flare badly after the baby's born and he can treat her more aggressively.

We have a high risk ultrasound tomorrow, along with another non-stress test. If there's no goiter present, it's a good indication that he didn't go way hypo or hyper for significant periods, so...we'll pray for that.

I'll tell y'all too that his movement has increased some and has been consistently increased since Monday...two days off the PTU which is very encouraging as well.
