Henry (sick dog) in heat?

I think my Henry (female 6 month old Golden) is in heat! She has been sick this week, though did much better yesterday, but this morning I see that her female area is red and swollen, she licking it. I'm thinking her sickness may have been due to this coming on for the first time. Anyone here have exp. with this in this type of dog? I know my little Yorkie was very sick when she was in heat, till I got her spayed. Henry will be spayed when she gets over this!

Poor pup. Hope she's feeling better. But it does sound like heat.

Thanks, Bebop! I'm thinking her getting sick and throwing up unexplainedly this past week was due to this coming on for the first time. Poor girl! (Glad I don't come into heat any more!)

oh yeah, she's in heat..........be sure and keep her secured......male dogs will tear through privacy fences (digging under, climbing over) to get to her.....a vet will spay her while she is in heat. it costs a little more.........good luck, there are "panties"........she is going to start bleeding.........

my daughter's dog, marie laveau, (a katrina rescue) came in and those stretch jockey shorts worked perfectly for her. she's part pitbull and that wrinkly faced dog......?????, so she's stocky. we just put her tail through the "fly" and the snug jersey protected the house from getting spotted......marie was not cool with it, but didn't pull them off. she just walked around frowning even more than her face already did, due to her "heritage".........
