Hi everyone! I am writing this post because I have just been
requested by SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY, to see their
doctors for my case. I am suppose to see an internist,
I have a lot of health problems, And a MENTAL HEALTH
PROFESSIONAL, to see if I am telling the truth of my
major depression. Has anyone, ever gone through this?

I am very scared that they won't believe me, but I would not lie. I do have an attorney helping with my case, but I don't know, if this is a standard procdure if you have a case.

Any suggestions or comments, please advise.

Thanks, Scared & WORRIED ! Scared & WORRIED ! Scared & WORRIED !

I wouldn't worry about it, they usually do that just as a standard thing, for a second opinion. As long as your being honest, you have nothing to worry about! Especially since you have a Laywer, that's always a plus!

My SIL went through it. She worried about it for days and when she did the interview and re-evaluation it was nothing to worry over. Those people have to justify their jobs.
I wouldn't worry about it.

It's very common for SS to have you seen their own doctors hon. Many people have to go through it. Many times, especially during the first pass at trying to obtain SS, they will make it difficult for you because they don't like handing the money out easily. But since you already have an attorney working on it, you may end up being one of the lucky ones who gets $$ on the first try.

Try not to get too worked up over this hon...like I said, it is a normal part of apply for SS. I hope and pray things work out well for you!

I'm on Disability, and I had to go through it to, without an attorney, and I got it on the first try. So it's really not that bad. It's true, they just want to make sure that they are giving the disability checks to the rightfully disabled! So I wouldn't worry about it, but it's totally normal to be nervous. Justice,

Can you please tell me a little bit more about the procedure? Do they ask questions or do you fill out a form?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Sassy,

My husband just had the appointment last Sunday with the Psych guy for SS......he was thinking that they were going to ask him all kinds of questions & all the guy did was to say 3 words......talk to him, ask him to spell the word WORLD backwards.....then asked him to remember the three words that he had first told him.....that was a huge joke...& my husband was pissed. He called them up on Monday & ask them what in the world was that going to prove. They told him that is wasn't going to really mean anything & that the reports they received from his Dr's (or more to the reality, my Dr's) were going to be the determining factors.

I think they just do those appointments to keep useless people employed. I would be embarassed to have a job like that when it really serves no usefull purpose.....of course, there may be some disabled people who are at a more serious level where that sort of appointment would be meaningful.....just not in most cases.

The first time my husband applied for disability, they denied him before ever setting up an appointment with their Dr's.

I personally don't remember what I went through.....I guess I was really messed up at the time, because I don't remember much of that time in my life.....I got disability the first time without any hassles. I had already gone through a workmans come case & lost that....& going through that sent me into the hospital many many times.

Don't worry, & don't get mad at them for the stupid appointment either.....just beware that you may end up feeling really frustrated afterwards, thinking it was totally useless.

Good luck....& don't worry,
Debbie
