It's moments like these I think to myself it is a good thing my Facebook is not working. Honestly I was getting addicted to technology and I needed a break from it to relax and chill with my family. It is so important to cherish the friendships in Front of you not just relying on social media to talk to people. The reality we might see on Facebook maybe different to the real world so it is always important to go back to the real world and ground yourself. <3

There has been talk of adding "internet addiction disorder" to the DSM since 1996. However, most experts believe it does not rise to the criteria of a mental disorder.
That said, I do think it's problematic if you feel compelled to take a photo of the salad you're about to eat so you can post it on Facebook. I believe that social media can have a positive impact on your life if it's used judiciously and not in lieu of interpersonal relationships. |

Lucky you... I do think I'm addicted to the Internet, even though I don't really use social media (I don't use Facebook)... I mostly use this forum and talk with friends and people who care about me... not that I have that much to do in the "real life"

Yes balance is what I am needing to learn. Also being addicted to doing the same over and over again can deplete the bodies energy. |

Well one thing you might do is scale back who you communicate with on social network sites.Restrict your friends lists to people you aactually know; to people you have met in person. Not even 'friends of friends'.

I'm sitting in a crowded waiting room and every person is looking at their iPhone. No one is open to meeting strangers anymore.

Yeah I still have lots of people on Facebook that I haven't even met in person... Also one of my friends said there was a guy on there that raped a child she said he was on a paedophile list. I didn't know whether to believe it or not the weird part is he's still on my Facebook. I also don't know why I would have him on there. When I once made a post about being depressed because I didn't have a baby and he said he'd get me pregnant. That was the first time we ever talked he saw that post in Perth have a whinge and said that to me.... He is also 40 I was 19. It's scares me that I could be naive enough to still have a creep like that on Facebook. I ask myself why but I have no answer and that's the saddest part...

Oh I absolutely feel a break from the Internet is very therapeutic now and then. xD In the past, I would get addicted and needed a break for a day or so. I can't really be taking long breaks now as I need the Internet for many things, but I can still take a few hours break or something. I almost miss the days I had £40 per anum Internet; t'was so easy to take a break because it was essentially Pay as You Go monthly. Good times.

Yeah, internet was a good and bad thing for me. Good for me when I wanted to access healing meditations, spread sheets for dbt but then it became a bad thing whenever I was impulsive and told Facebook and the world every personal and stupid thing that was going on. It also wasn't very wise someone as vulnerable and fragile as me to go to a camgirl site. You know why because I was already vulnerable and when your that depressed you no longer try and protect yourself you just do what others ask you to do. That is why my psychiatrist is concerned that sexually I am vulnerable because he knows how I tend to just act on every impulse even if I know it is bad for me.

I feel like a deactivation was in need for me so I tried to delete Facebook but it takes two weeks to delete it all but I just think to myself why do I need to be addicted? I have all the people I need in real life if it's because of the spiritual uplifting messages I have tarot cards I can read for myself. Also, if I want memes I have websites that have it. I don't need to be addicted to anything I am not escaping anything my life is beautiful. I have the opportunity to be whoever I want to be. <3
