I am about to start seeing a therapist to help me with what I feel like are issues.

Here is what I hope to address in therapy:
Depression/anxiety-I would consider them mild to moderate
Fear of being alone
The need to be in a relationship all the time...even if the relationship is not good for me.
My lack of communication skills/expressing my feelings and emotions

I don't feel confident. I feel empty inside. Sometimes I wonder what the point of my life is? I never feel happy. The last time I can remember being really happy is when I met my now ex 5 years ago

Could I have some sort of mental health issue going on? Or could these be just normal issues? I've never been diagnosed with having any type of mood disorder or personality disorder etc. but sometimes I wonder if I do.

Hello xraychick01: Honesstly... I can't tell you whether or not what you are experiencing rises to such a level that it deserves to be given a mental health diagnosis. This is for a mental health professional to determine. There is a sense in which (at least from my perspective) mental health issues such as depression, anxiety & fear are simply things everyone deals with to one extent or another. They only become diagnosable as mental health conditions when they begin to negatively impact a person's day-to-day life.

I do think it's great you'll be seeing a therapist. That is the best way to begin to figure out what is going on with you. Sometimes it can take a while to find the right therapist for you. So, if the therapist you're going to see does not turn out to be someone you're comfortable with, keep looking for one you do feel comfortable with.

I think working with a therapist is a great step in the right direction.
Remember that no one else will give us happiness. We have to cultivate it on our own.
That's been something I have struggled with in the past, and I can also relate to being happier with a partner.
