I can't see my ankle bone at all - my feet are twice their normal size. It has even moved up to my calves and thighs.........I can not even believe how big my legs are. It scares me.

I have stopped taking the meds: Zyprexa. I have a call into the primary doc (my local pill pusher), but he is out of state for the week. He's moving there at the end of the month.

[sigh] It hurts to walk, to move, etc. with this condition. How long will it take for this stuff to get out of my system? I've only been taking it for a week. I have very lousy results with new meds................Medication Bloating

Planning... I think an unexpected drug side effect is important enough to warrant not waiting for your doc... he should have someone "on call" to cover for him while he is on vacation.

Just someone to talk to to confirm what is happening, that it is OK to stop taking the Zyprexa suddenly, and mostly to put your mind at ease, maybe he/she can answer your question about how fast this should go away. Maybe even suggest something to help the swelling go down more quickly.

My feet ankles and knees really swell when my arthritis is bad so I know how bad and scary that can be... sometimes not even being able to put on socks, let alone shoes. Hope you can get an answer from someone, even if it is only temporary until your regular doc gets back.

Oh, Sweety!! That happened to me when I got put on Celebrex for my arthritis! They took me off of it right away and increased my water pills. It may be a bit different with psych meds, but what you've done before, stopping all your meds would indicate to me that you can survive it.

Do what Dave says and call the office to see who is taking his calls! If he doesn't have anyone then he's a lousy doctor! Go to the ER and let them tell you what to do if your pill pusher doesn't have someone taking his calls!

That's scary to me, having my feet and ankles swell up! Please have it taken care of ASAP, ok?

I've had that with remeron when I first got on it.

Know what my doc told me to do, eat bran..... anything high in fiber.... lots and lots of fiber.

hi Dave,

I actually got a call back from my doctor today. We're talking about which one to try next (medication wise). There was no problem about stopping the other Zyprexa.

I have a new appt. this Thursday morning.

hi Sundance,

my doctor is thinking about putting me on that. I don't need more swelling..............maybe it won't do that to me (yea, right)

Fiber, hmmmmmmmmm. Any common foods that you can suggest? Btw, thanks for the input.

Hey Planningtoexist

Your doc is planning to put you on remeron?

Foods with fiber, anything whole wheat. Different cereals like all bran, bran flakes, etc. Bran has the most fiber I think, and when I Felt this way, even though mine was a side effect of remeron it got me so uncomfortable that is what I ate. Raisins, even prunes, they are yucky but they do the trick.

I think some fruit has fiber as well, anything whole wheat and bran. And drink alot of water. That is suppose to help as well.

It gets better, Tomi.........lol. I got 2 kittens this week - one for Alex and one for me as pets. Both are black, females, with white on their chests. Alex's kitten, Rainbow, has more white than mine, Moonlight.

The point is that they have sharp little claws that dig in...............to the sunburn. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Ozzie, we can share that trophy. When you scratch too much, I'll take it, and when I can't move my arms, it's yours.......lol.

Nice kitties.........go away little nails. Medication Bloating

I'm going to bring this up tomorrow - I can't stand the thought of looking like an even more plump tomato than I do now.

Fiber/bran..........yuck lol.

I felt like i weighed a ton when I was really bloated, I couldn't sit down, stand up, lay down it was so uncomfortable. But I bought some bran flakes and drank water and it did the trick. Medication Bloating

Sorry to hear you are sunburnt and bloated, I know the feeling of the bloating. I had it a couple of times the way you decribed, I went to the Doctor and they increased my Lasix (waterpill) and then it finally went away.

I am glad you have got it taken care of. I had trouble putting on my shoes Medication Bloating and remember telling myself "I don't have any ankles, just a foot connected to a big leg Medication Bloating

Best wishes to you-

Went to work today, thought everything was fine. Until I got home and took the shoes off.

Seems the combination of meds, sunburn, etc. made my swelling worse and a rash of some sort. I'm starting to just give up here.

I'm sorry that it is getting worse, I know how uncomfortable it can be, Maybe it would help to go have it checked out at the ER or a clinic. Just to make sure that it can get better and go away so you will feel better. Please do not give up, there has got to be an answer as to why this is going on. Could it be an allerigic reacton from some sort of insect bite. I just hope it gets better.

(((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) Get Well Soon!

I think that is one problem - it is in me, I just am never able to let myself do it.

I just got back from my doctor - seems he's concerned about my lack of sleep cycle. I am usually awake till the sun comes up because I can't shut those sounds/voices up. So, he's cutting back on my Depakote to 500 mg. ER (from 1000) and having me take that plus Xanax at night............then they've come up with a combo pill of Zyprexa and Prozac - called Symbyax.

Contains 6mg. of Zyprexa and 25mg. of Prozac.

I just want to crawl into a quiet hole and sleep for a few days.

[sigh]
