I went to finally mail the baby blanket to my friend today, the one I crocheted. I managed to fit it into a gallon zip lock back and then put it in a bubble envelope. The thing weighs maybe a pound, maybe two but I doubt it. My Grandma said there was a UPS store near where we had lunch so we took it over there. It was going to cost $11 just for regular mail! He said they mark up the cost...that UPS might be cheaper but it wasn't. So I took it to the postal station and it was $7. The UPS store marked it up $4!!!

The UPS store took over all the Mailboxes Etc stores. I miss those stores. You could pick mail, UPS or FEDEX and they didn't mark stuff up. It was all in one nice place. I don't know why this aggravated me so much.....a $4 mark up!!!! So I just wanted to share....watch where you mail stuff! I'm sure most of the staff don't tell customers they mark up!!!

I'm not surprised. Big companies don't give a rat's butt about the consumer.
Thanks for the info.

Yup! I've been using USPS more and more. And even THEIR prices are rediculous on some things. EEEEESH!

They are quite expensive around here also. If you buy postage stamps there they also mark those up. I was furious about that and refuse to use them anymore.

Yeah...they don't even mark stamps up at the grocery store. I don't think I'll ever use UPS again.

Haha. You should probably buy the stock. With them marking everything up, I bet it'll be worth loads!

There are some people who could care less what they spend as long as it gets the job done. I for one have to count my pennies...no money to waste. The UPS Store vs. Post Office

Yep, same here. At the grocery store I study the item I want to find the best deal. Its usually the store brand, but sometimes the sales or "club price" is actually better on name brand. But usually I go without anyway, so I rarely end up at the grocery store haha!!

That's using standard UPS rates though. That, they don't mark up. They only mark up if you want to send it USPS.
