Does anyone have any sensible thoughts on this?
I am the first to admit I am not always sensible. ![]()

I told my therapist that I called this the "textbook syndrome". I named it this because I can read all the facts in my textbooks, learn what I'm "supposed" to do and what "should" happen, but that never means my feelings and/or behaviors are going to match that. It's like I have all of this textbook knowledge floating around my head, but it never seeps inside.

What my T told me is that "Feelings are not facts." 'Spose we need to check out our facts before we solidify our feelings... or let our feelings take over. Base your actions on facts, not feelings.
STOP THINK ACT (as opposed to re-act... as in kneejerk reaction)

Well, they can be very closely related inside us. Even Scripture talks about the (Holy Spirit) dividing the thoughts and intentions of the heart ! You know, as most of here at PC know, that relying upon feelings can really mess up our day. We must rely upon what we know to be fact (truth) to get through many negative situations.
Remember the quote, Don't doubt in the dark what you knew to be true in the light? I think that addresses this very thing... what we knew/know in the light is what we understand as truth, factual..but the dark comes and when we can't "see" the truth any more, our heart/feelings begin to change it and we become confused. ![]() Plus, for you right now fuzzybear, the meds are trying to balance your system out... don't think too deeply or fear things, ok? (((hugs)))

I call the separation there, or the conflict, lack of communication between, etc...separation between my intellectual mind and my emotional mind.
What I think and feel emotionally can sometimes be totally separate as to what I think and feel intellectually. So many times in therapy I would point to my head and say, "I know it here," then point to my chest and say, "but I don't know it here." I then would sometimes switch that up depending on what was being talked about. Getting the two together is sometimes almost tricky it feels. What has helped me so much is realizing in both of these parts that often time true facts usually lie somewhere in the middle, and then I find that middle, note it, and stand on that. KD
