I fear that one day I'm going to snap, hurt somebody really badly and end up ruining my life. I have so much anger towards the people who've hurt me and it's making me very sick. I want to get rid of it but I don't know how... I've asked God to help me but maybe this is the burden that I'm meant to carry. How can I ever be truly happy? I'm a shell of my former self and no matter how much love people show me, no matter how much support, it's just not enough to get rid of the hatred. I threw up tonight multiple times because of it.

Do you have an anger management therapist? That might help. Maybe some meds, too.

I ever made same thread about letting go my anger towards my former bullies some time ago.
Gus1234U gave this method: https://forums.psychcentral.com/copi...-emotions.html And I read this method somewhere in PC, unfortunately I forget which thread: 1. Take deep breath for 4 seconds 2. Hold it for 5 seconds 3. Release for 8 seconds. Through that's not really let go of my anger, it could calm me down for a moment. |

I have found that Relaxation/Meditation music helps me a lot when I'm stressed out. It helps me relax and get rid of the stress. I don't know if it would help with anger or not, but it can't hurt to try it.
I have two "albums" of music, each about an hour long, and when I'm really stressed I play them back to back for as long as I need to. I bought these off of Amazon music for I think 1 dollar each. There are also youtube videos out there that you can watch for free if you want to give it a try to see if it helps.

Try to think of the good things in life and focus on that. Move away from those who have hurt you… shut them out. They're not worth your time. But there are others who will be there for you… Such as God as you know.

My own experience has been focusing on the good in life has helped immensely, for some people this may include faith (my own beliefs aren't certain), and how that is practised in daily life - for others it's more a case of leading a life in line with their own values.
An example of this could be becoming involved in your local community, helping others in ways you can. It could be helping people or animals, or maybe conservation work to help the local environment. I don't know if you have spare time, but even a few hours can be enough to make a positive difference. I don't think this would get rid of anger towards those who have hurt you but would be a way of focusing on other more positive things. Dealing with angry emotions, well I am no expert and again this is just my experience, I would acknowledge those feelings, maybe express them by way of a letter that you never send - that has helped me. The breathing tips given above sound great too, and yoga can be very helpful (again it works on focusing the mind). I am assuming (& hoping) that you are out of the harmful situation now, so reminding yourself that was then and this is now, you are no longer a victim, you are safe and no longer at risk of harm - they have no power over you now. |

I know what you mean. I have been hurt so many times in my life that it has made me hard hearted and bitter with extreme trust issues. I wish I could give you some great advice but I honestly can't when I'm struggling with the same stuff. I have confronted some people who have hurt me, but they denied all of it...which made me so angry that I was shaking and my heart felt like it was going to explode. I want revenge...but I believe God has something better in store for them due to the fact they refuse to take any sort of responsibility for their actions. I guess what all this boils down to is...you are not alone in this.
