For some time now I have been wondering if I'm under long period stress without really knowing it. My heart always beats fast (100-115), unless I sleep (75-85), and stress could be causing it. I don't have many symptoms, but sometimes I can feel some kind of tenseness in brain and body, like I'm going to explote or get a panic attack from high anxiety level.

Is it possible that I'm stressed, even if I sleep well and don't seem to get effectef by it most of the time? Or is it an anxiety problem, that I don't know the cause of?

I just really want to know what is going on, because long period stress is really bad and I have had it for at least a half a year now, this tense feeling that sometimes pop up.

If needed, ask me to get more information.

My heart rate usually runs around the same as yours. Most likely a constant state of low level anxiety for me. I did, however, go to a cardiologist on the referral of my pdoc to be sure it wasn't something serious. He did EKGs and had me do a Holter monitor (I can explain that if you need me to) and there wasn't anything seriously wrong. A couple skipped beats an hour... I go back once a year for a followup just to make sure my heart is still good, because long term running high can cause problems. When I see new doctors and such, I just have to say 110 is normal for me, and I see a cardiologist, and they'll go on to why I'm there for them. Maybe worth just the check up?

I would like to know what Holter monitor is
It could be a good thing to do, but where to find people who can do it? I have no idea.

The Holter monitor is a heart monitor that they hooked me up to in the office before I left. I had to wear it for 24 hrs. So basically, I had wires under my shirt (a lot like the EKG set up), that went to a box that could hang off a belt or go into a pocket. I had to keep a record for that time, with times and descriptions, anytime I felt odd, like my heart rate was going up, anxious or more anxious, if I took any over the counter stuff, when I took my normal meds, and so on. I had to go back the next day to return the monitor, but they said I could remove the leads when the 24hrs was over, and turn it off, so i didn't have to come back right at 24hrs later.

There are other monitors they can do also. My mom had one that she wore for 3 days, that just measured her pulse I think. It kind of stuck on her chest, no wires tho.

My pdoc suggested that I go, and I got the referral from my GO. My insurance, I don't need an official referral, but it's always easier for the docs.

Well, I don't know if it can help me, since it doesn't give much information, but if it doesn't take more then 24 hours, I guess it is worth trying.

But does that mean it can tell if my heart is fine or not? And why it beats like it does?

The cardiologist looks at it, with everything else they have, and decides. It could be nothing, or there might be something going on. You'd really have to go to find out.

Do you have a primary care doctor?
