So lately there has been talk around school because a student threatened to bring in a gun on his birthday and shoot people in school. They have been keeping a watch on him since since the summer. But then today in psychology class, we saw the kid and the principal walking out of the school and several cop cars outside, because our classroom is right next to the entrance of the school, so we can see who comes and goes. The school then called a supervisor meeting, and another teacher came in my class and talked to the teacher, we asked him if we were going home, and he just smiled and told us to keep watching the movie. Then in my next class, a kid got called down to the office. Well apparently, the kid who wanted to shoot people was planning on doing it today, and he had the gun in school and was going to do it at lunch, and we were in the class right before lunch. The kid that got called down to the office heard him saying that, and told the office, so then he had to go home immediately because he would be the first target. So then we all got sent home from school at 10:30. It was definitely the scariest day of my life. If that kid hadn't told the office of what the other kid was planning to do, people could have died. I am afraid, and I don't feel safe in my own school anymore. Hopefully next week they will still have cops outside our school for a while, they have been there since the first day of school.

How scary for you!! I could have died today... I'm so glad you're okay, though. What do your parents say about that? Whether I was you or your parents, not sure how I would handle something like that! Please stay safe! I could have died today...

There's a vulgar saying I try to remember, "Almost doesn't count except in horse shoes and hand grenades". Very scary, very glad it didn't get completed.

thank goodness someone spoke up and that the school had a plan for if/when this kind of thing happened.

very scary to think of the progression of 'safety drills' that schools have gone through from the 1950's until now. nuclear duck and cover drills, storm drills, earthquake drills and now lockdown drills and 'play dead fish' is being taught to little kids in case of weapons attack at school.

we learned the duck and cover under desk for earthquakes but never had to hear a teacher telling us to 'play dead fish' and lay on ground still as if we were a dead fish.

very glad to read you're okay mandazzle. your school will probably provide counselors for the next week or so to help ppl w/ any feelings that arise from such a scary event.

it is good you're writing about it and letting the forums know what's going on w/ you. keep posting as you need to so that you don't feel you're alone in all of this.

again, glad you're okay and glad the school and authorities had plan for safety of all students/faculty.
