I have this 10 page paper that is due on Tuesday evening-- However, Monday and Tuesday I have my internship so essentially I have to get it done tomorrow.... I could work on it a little bit on Monday evening, but I really need to have most of it done. Of course I haven't even started. I went into depression last Sunday and it's really hard to motivate, focus, and concentrate. I am completely overwhelmed by the paper when it is normally something I would be very interested in. I feel like I'm never going to get it done-- actually %#@&#! that-- I feel like I'm never even going to have one paragraph. I usually manage school quite well along with my problems because I can keep them fairly separate.... but sometimes there are interferences... and this is one of those times. I wanted to start earlier today and I just ended up crying and then laying in the bed for a bit. Now I'm trying again but I can't focus.

Ok, you can still begin it. Get your paper and pen. Write one sentence only on as many of the stages you can.

I really think you are trying too hard on this one, pinksoil. Trying to cover this data for the prof is not a good thing imo. Don't go so deep into thoughts and memories, really.

Begin. Get paper and begin, and you will be ahead and the vexing of beginning will be behind you psychologically, ok? You don't have to do much at all.

Pinksoil,

I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed.

I took on one more class to teach this semester and have had a hard time juggling the second class, with the other two.

If you want you can PM me, and bounce ideas off of me.

I can soooo relate to what you wrote. It is so hard to focus sometimes when you have to much else going on upstairs. Try and take a bath if you can ... let the warmth heat you up, and allow yourself this time to just .. think. or not think... but most importantly, try not to stress on the paper. Afterwards, get in some comfy clothes, get some tea (or coffee) and try and focus. I find that once i allow myself some time to focus on whatever my mind is fighting for so much of my attention, it is only afterwards that i can somehow reason with myself to just focus on what needs to be done.
Hope this helps... let us know how it goes.

Focussing + papers/exams + depression = MESS!

... I understand. I need to start assignments of my own, but it's so hard to sit here and think about things. Let alone do research.

One step at a time I suppose. Good luck
