Say someone has social anxiety.. Well, I need a job and the only place nearby that is hiring is the worst place to work(wal-mart..)

Well, I am not technically disabled(I might qualify for disability, but I do not want to apply I want to work) so do they still legally have to provide assistance to me?

I really need this job to get on my feet, but I don't want to be overwhelmed the first week with too much like the last job and end up breaking down, and I definitely don't want to get any more assistance from the state(getting food and insurance right now, this week I will be starting a new med so hopefully that helps with the stress)

What do you mean its the only place around that is hiring? Have you looked on job-oriented job web cites? Or gone to your local temp agency? I'm not one to talk because I am currently unemployed, but I am out there looking at different possibilities. If you have social anxiety, then retail probably isn't such a good idea, at least to start. Especially one where ther isn't a barrier of some kind between you and the public. Put in your application, but look around as well.

I have looked around, I have been looking for months. The only places that have responded to me are sales call centers and that is even worse. Also, transportation is a big issue.

gosh prada, don't want to turn your post into a big whine, but, depression, anxiety, and public contact are a messy mix. i know, i've worked customer service for most my life with all of the above going on at the same time... at least you have a little foreknowledge that it could be rough. knowing that, maybe you can give yourself a little pep talk (this is gonna suck, i know it, but i gotta do it anyway type thing) or maybe, pep yourself so much that the sucky goes away. one thing i've learned is that most people mirror right back at you whatever you give them, it's just hard getting that required up-ness happening most of the time (at least it was for me)

good luck and hoping the best for you...
