My sister has been staying with me since Monday. Power should be restored around Sunday, but it may be still too ashy for her to go home.

I can't believe that we're getting along ok. We must be in a state of Grace. Thanks to the help and advice of others in this forum, I'm reminding myself to protect my boundaries. When I start feeling exposed, I go to my room for a while. And it seems to work.

My problems seem petty by the light of wildfires. Thanks for listening.

I'm glad you're getting along ok with your sister. My friend calls those little times that she takes for herself "social timeouts". So it sounds like you're taking social timeouts and they're working! Something I need to remember to do more often when I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Is her home ok?

Yes, her home survived although the fire burned all around where she lives. I'll probably be back to complaining in a few days. ca fires

Doh,

It is sad, but true...sometimes these rough times allow us to get to know each other at a much deeper level & to respect each other in a different light that every could have previously existed.

You have opened your house to your sister....I am sure she appreciates that beyond all words. Setting your boundaries in your own house is important & she now has time to learn those boundaries & also respect you in a way she previously never had a chance to.

I hope the respect continues so there will be no need to continue complaining in the future. I hope she has learned a new respect for you that she didn't have previously. Hopefully something good has come from the horrible fire.

Just a thought,
Debbie
