does anyone know how to check the status of your claim online? they called me 2 months ago and said they were ready to make a decision but I have heard nothing at all. I need money like right now. our car is on the verge of being repo'ed

it is where I need to be but I don't have a confirmation number errrrrrrrrr waaaaaaaaaaaa ty hon for looking. I couldn't find it for some reason.

No confirmation number? Shouldn't that be on one of the forms you filed (proving you filed it) or did you mail it in and are waiting for that confirmation????

ok anyone that has gone thru filing and knows the system please help me out here. I just got off the phone with them. a decision was made on the 26th but it is now before a special review board. they said I should hear something by dec 25th. I thought if they turned you down you just got a letter stating that. am I getting it?

they send so many percentage of cases to a quality control review. suppossedly both negative and positive but from what i have read and heard from people they have been the positive ones. The online information is never up to date, you can call up the 800 number every few days and maybe one of them would give you a hint when a decision is made, its happened in the past but most times they wont.

i meant the decision of the review board in this case.....mine went there also and they actually called me....it was a question about where i worked 25 years ago...ha

there is an active board at braintalk for social security and there are a few people there who work/worked for social security if you want to post a question there.

I was approved for mine, but then told it was going before the board too, within a few weeks I had heard and received a letter in the mail. I know the process is soooooooooooooo stressful. Hang in there.

oh thank you! it is giving me hope! I don't think I have ever heard of a denial going to the board. keep ur fingers crossed!

I was able to get online to Social Security and get my claim status, but it really doesn't give you much information. My confirmation number was written on a piece of paper they gave me to check. It's never done in real time so how accurate it is I don't know. For now I just get letters from SS when they have denied me twice. So right now I am waiting on an appeals hearing with the judge and my lawyer to review any new information that might get my disability approved. And boy do I have plenty. So I try and contact my lawyer as the information comes and they send me releases for my records. Hope this helps somewhat. Good luck in the process, I also have no income and really need this benefit. I applied in Sept 2006 and they say the hearing might not be heard until after March 2008.

There's a randomly chosen, review board that some of the decisions are "checked" against, quality control, before one get a letter, maybe yours got chosen for that. They send a letter for everything, to make it official and give you all the information, etc. whether it's approved, disapproved, or they just want further info.
