Tomorrow my 2 feline boys and I are making the hour long trip to the vet for vaccinations. This is a very nerve-racking experience for me.

Apollo was diagnosed with cancer one year ago. He has had 2 surgeries to remove cancerous tumors. I am happy to report he is doing remarkably well and not showing any signs of illness. When he received the diagnosis, we were told months and here we are one year later.

The vet's office has been a place of both sadness and happiness for us. And worst of all fear I think. I tell myself I should be getting used to this trip, but it gets harder every time. Initially Apollo was seeing the vet monthly, but since he has been doing great we make the trip about every 2-3 months now.

Well tomorrow is just routine vaccinations for both of my boys, but I am still so scared. It's fear of the unknown. What am I going to learn? The worst moment for me is when the vet listens to Apollo's lungs. I can imagine her saying they are not clear, but hearing it is something I cannot plan for.

Apollo has salivary gland cancer, and so far we are not aware of it spreading to any other areas. However, the lungs are a potential target for the disease.

Airway, i really really know where you are coming from, and i am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that all is positive for you and the kiddies tomorrow. I will probably be in chat around noon eastern standard, or shortly after. please come in when you get home and let me (us) know how it all went and that you are all ok after the long trip and vet inspection.

keeping you all in my thoughts

your fellow feline lover,

Apollo, Triton, and I thank you all for your good wishes and support. Apollo has spent some quality time cudding with me in bed this morning. I think it's his way of saying, 'Mommy, don't worry so much.' I actually am not as nervous as I was last night.

I will definitely let you know how things turn out later today. Vet appointment tomorrow; Stressful for me.

This is Apollo.

Way to go Apollo & Triton. I know how worried one gets with our babies....especially when dealing with things like cancer.

Glad all turned out well. Apollo looks just like the kitty I had for 18 years growing up. Beautiful Macrel Tabby.

Glad everyone went well. I understand how you feel. My pets are my babies. My at-home therapy. Vet appointment tomorrow; Stressful for me. I have had a few instances of sadness at the vet's office, too... so it will always bring that those memories.
