It is the little things in life I have problems getting done—dishes and such. Why is so much easier to set the soda can on the table rather than toss it in the trash can? After all the trash can is right next to the table. My clothes get washed, but rarely put away. The mail piles up in the mailbox because I rarely collect it. The postperson once threatened to stop delivering the mail because my box was so full. I am convinced I ought to just buy books instead of checking them out from the library—the late fees I accrue would literally buy the books. This list goes on and on…

Sometimes I think I am just lazy. Sometimes I think it is part of my depression. All the time I know it makes my life chaotic. Its hard to get out the door to work when you can’t find a jacket to wear, lord knows where the car keys are and who knows if the car has gas in it.

If I was replying to this post, I’d suggest setting small goals and doing just a little each day. Yes, I know that is what I need to do, so why can’t I seem to do it?

I often feel too tired to do the simplest thing. I'm sure there's a big long complicated reason and cure, but I'm too tired to care. It is the little things in life...

DePressMe,

Sorry if you thought you were alone on this one. I'm just happy that I USUALLY put my keys in the same general area. I've tried withholding things (no computer or Sims until x is done).

I've tried seeing how long it was before "I just couldn't take the chaos" anymore."

The only time that everything is where it belongs is when I'm manic, and that was not happening very often. It was almost worth the depression to have my house SPARKLE, cupboards organized, papers filed properly, not a piece of laundry in sight (clean or dirty).

If you figure out a way to get organized on a full time basis, to make it so that the pop can makes it that extra four inches to the trash can, the keys are hung up and you can find both shoes, jacket, and purse (well I'm sure you don't use a purse, but a wallet is easier to lose), SELL THE FORMULA. You'll be a rich man and you can pay someone to come in and do those things for you. It is the little things in life...

Thank you everybody for the support! If I come up with the solution, I’ll let you all know…

BTW, AAAA, I am a woman. Don’t worry lotsa people assume me to be a guy. Sometimes I like to think of myself as a dashing young man—depending on what clothes I wear. I have enough gender neutral features that lotsa people get confused…maybe the ambivalence I have concerning my gender comes out… And, you are right, I carry a wallet, not a purse.

I am SO sorry, I feel just horrible. I did not even look at your picture. I have an adverson to cameras so I just don't pay attention. I couldn't be more sorry. It is the little things in life... It is the little things in life...

I don't even know what else to say. This major screw up became known to me when we were discussing how beautiful your artwork is and Chal said that you would never sell it. I'm so sorry

No big deal--really, if you knew me in real life, you would understand that it is not a big deal.
