Maybe it would be a good thing to get a written & signed note from your MD telling her facts about the condition you are dealing with. At the college I went back to to take classes (after already having my BS degree) the disibiluties office took the information from my Pdoc & they provided compensation for the disabiluties (required by law) but your just telling your landlord without proof may just sound like yiu giving excuses for your behavior. Getting the MD'S involved puts the law on your side with proof of your condition that you actually do have.
Maybe she is not such a witch but has maybe learned from her own experiences not to trust what people just tell her.

There may be a form they can fill out because tgey have to be very careful about NOT going against your HIPPA rights of not disclosing certain information without the appropriate permission from you too. There is a fine line they can't legally cross either. That is probably why so many deal with it after something ends up bliwing up legally with a situation instead of trying to defuse it before it happens.

Oh my god I am freaking out here,we have been having thunder and rain for almost two hours now.I am shaking so bad I layed down held onto my little penquin stuffed animal for dear life I am so scared I was in tears,my body is still shaking .I did put my battery operated radio on,still cannot relax, enough of these storms,it actually triggered the alarm on for the train, good thing I cannot hear that stupid alarm inside I dont know who to call about it I tried my handyman but he doesn't know anything, still someone should know about this,i know it isnt my problem still.Good thing the people are not stopping for to long . The lightening is what scares me more then anything. Please pray for me and give me a hug, cause right now I am very anxious and SCARED to death. I tried to relax but I cannot.

Yes, lightening can be scary. There is something about the area my farm is located. I have an app on my phone that tracks locations of lightening strikes & there are some storms where I can could at least 100 strikes within a mile radius of my farm. Lots if woods & I have a few trees in my woods that have been hit by lightening at some point in time.
I live so far from town unless I am outside or have windows open (not in stormy weather) that I can't hear the storm warning sirens. Came out of the grocery store a few weeks before my trip & the storm siren was going off right next to the store. Just got in my truck & headed home. Have gotten pretty casual about this stuff after 11 years here but it is still eerie with lightening flashing overhead & the thunder booming immediately after the flash so I understamd how it is easy to feel the way you do.

![]() If that's a railroad crossing alarm that you're describing, then I'd either call the railroad (if you know who it is), or call your local Police Department & let them know. It's not a 911 situation, but is still a potential safety hazard. |

I can definitely relate to the no electric though it was only for a week my second winter after buying my farm after leaving my H. We had an ice storm that took out everything in the area. I bought a little gas generator to power a 2 burner cook stove for hot water & soup & charging my cell phone which was my only way to communicate. No heat or water either since the water towers are pumped by electric. Living out in the country away from everything was definitely a challenge & trees were falling from the weight of the ice in my woods & all around the area taking down even more electric lines. I did have a panic attack in the middle of the night one night after dealing with hypothermia earlier that day after feeding my neighbors 20+ horses he had on his property he didn't live at. I got overheated & sweated tgen chilled with no heat or way to warm up after that. Had wrapped up in a blanket to warm up but didn't realize I needed to get the sweaty wet cloths off of me before I could warm up & wasn't thinking very clear by that point living alone with my 6 dogs.
It was definitely a learning experience for me.

People used to pick on me because my social skills are poor. Not anymore, lucky to be in a college where the classmates are pretty good friends. But man, that was a hell of a trauma when I am reminded of last year.

People can be shy, sensitive & insecure without having a mental illness & get picked on too.

That said (and at the risk of topic drift), how do we define shyness/sensitively/insecurity as being personality traits vs MI and is it actually helpful to try to make that separation? On one hand, it may not be wise to rush towards categorization/treatment, but on the other if the individual is caused distress, shouldn't some assistance be available, regardless of whether a DSM diagnosis appears to apply or not? *Don't mind me - I'm sort of thinking aloud * |
