I know a scam when I see one for instance I got a letter in the mail the other day telling me get this one I could make $2,500 in a week stuffing there booklets right away I knew it was a scam, they told me to send $$99.00 for the booklets and 1cent for shipping, talk about stupid. I feel bad for the people who are going to get money especially from the elderly because they will believe this. I have informed my land lady to make sure the people watch out for that scam then a couple of weeks earlier I got a mail to send some envelopes for $5,000 a week ,don't I wish .Can you believe the people who will fall for this crap?Just be careful please. Also if you have a computer there is this scam where u will get a pop up claiming that it is from Microsoft then a bunch of stuff starts to download. That you need to call them to have it fixed do not pay any attention to that, it is also a scam you cannot even close the popup so I had to shut down manually .However when I tried to get back into my bank I got a message saying someone illegally maybe trying to get into my account so I immediately called my bank so now I can no longer do online banking and I hate it. They are saying we need to call Microsoft so we can clean it not true all a fake. It is disgusting what some people will do just to scam someone. I hope they get theres. I have a answering machine so I left a message it is meant to be funny you have reached the Lizzie Borden residence the minute I say to all you scammers they hang up not always though but if someone calls me I dont know who it is I dont answer the phone nobody ever leaves a message so watch out for those scam phone calls.

You've got a tight defense. I called your number to scam you and the Lizzie Borden thing made me wet myself.

The latest scams here in Canada are the "CRA" and "RCMP" scams.

Essentially the one says the Canada Revenue Agency is coming after you for unpaid income taxes. The second is that the police have warrants out for your arrest and if you pay them (the scammer) money they will have the warrants cancelled.

It couldn't be more obvious these aren't legit as in both cases the grammar and diction of the caller is miserably bad. That should be the first clue. The second? The government is not going to ask for iTunes cards as payment. Honestly, I don't get how people fall prey to this. Yet, they do - by the thousands. I don't get how stupid people can be.

Also, I just had an acquaintance scammed as she was positive she had a relationship with Rick Springfield and, at his insistence, sent him money for a trip here to meet her. How on earth can this have happened to her? How could she have been so naive? Look, no celebrity is going to ask for money to visit you. Period.

I know these scammers love to take advantage of not only the elderly but young people as well. They are just to darn lazy to work and get a paid job so they scam people. I just had a phone call as soon as I said if you are a scammer guess what they hung up, We also had income tax fraud scans to matter of fact I got two phone calls claiming to be from the IRS I say that is bull. They claimed that I was being sued for not paying my taxes sure right ,the Irs doesnt call you They just want your social security number along with your credit card no, well they wont be getting any messages from me, You have to be so stupid to fall for these scams. I just dont know how some people fall for this kind of stuff. Watch out for your mail to I am getting them sent to me from the post office. Dont know how they get our phone number and address but they do.I often wonder how these scammers would feel is someone scammed them. They are the worse useless form of life I have ever seen . I wish someone could catch these criminals. I have reported the phone calls to the do not call register they dont do a darn thing. I still get calls when someone calls and I do not recognize there no I wont answer the phone and I look up that no to see if it is legit most of the time it is not.

Regarding the calls and how they get your number, they are using 'robocall' technology. They don't have to get your name and number at all; they are just using an automatic dialer. In most cases it is a canned message you hear. This too makes me amazed people would fall for the scam as it is readily evident the voice is computer generated. Again, how can one be so naive? How do you not have even an inkling all is not on the up and up?

One scam that occurred to me multiple times a decade ago was the 'windows' update hoax. This was where you got a phonecall from someone identifying themselves as a Microsoft professional advising you there was a problem with your Windows software. The goal was to get access to the users computer whereupon the scammer could obtain all they needed for bank accounts, etc. Anyway, I kept getting calls from such people (foreigners with a bad command of the English language) insisting my 'Windows' software had to be updated. I would tell them I don't even use a Microsoft device so how could that be?

Another scam that gets me is when people fall into the trappings of believing they are in a relationship. Often they say they are military. There seems to be a whole lot of military officers out there in dire need of your money. Again, how does one fall for this. The communication and writing skills are far far beneath that of someone who would be well educated. this should be the first tip off. and clearly having no basic knowledge of the military should be another. My recommendation? When you meet anyone online who professes to consider you a perfect match early on actually Google an excerpt of their message(s). Usually thousands of hits come up - they are using a script. So, for goodness sakes, do some homework and be vigilant. Never believe someone you haven't met in real life and certainly don't send them money - EVER.

I have gotten that Microsoft scam but on my computer,a stupid box will pop up saying it is Microsoft no it isnt true it is a scam I tired closing it down but it wont close ,I knew it was a scam right away. They want access to my computer I aint that stupid.I know what is going on.The las time it happened I tried to get inside my bank I couldnt do it I had to call the bank tell them what is going so now I no longer have access to my bank online I have to call.I suppose it is saver that way.If I cannot get into my account nobody else can.I wish these scammer would get caught.Get a job you lousy scammers .One woman was scammed over a million dollars because she fell for it I cant remember what it was for but I do know it made me very mad, They seem to target the elderly for some reason guess they figure we will believe in anything not this elderly person,Just yesterday I got two phone calls didnt get past my answering machine message before they hung up.If you do get a phone no and there is a caller ID on the phone you can always look up there no it will tell you whether it is a scam or not.You knoq qhat I found out okay I have comcast and frontier did you know that when u sign up with them they give our phone number to other companies I know this because a couple of times I have gotten phone calls sayihg Comcast or Frontier no it wasnt I dont think it is right that they are able to give our phone numbers out like that they claim that both of them gave them our no.I feel sorry for the people who buy that crap.Just like I mentioned before I am getting scam letters in my mai. They wanted me to send them $100.00 to cover for there booklets ya sure. How can these scammers get away with it? I have reported the numbers that call me and there is no message but the do not call lists is a joke .They dont seem to block these calls from these scammers. Scammers are the lowest form of life.
