THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I JUST WANT TO SHARE WHAT SO MUCH POSITIVE ENERGY AND PRAYERS CAN DO!!!

Y'all, she's just doing amazing...so amazing that I'm already back...seriously...two days after her surgery!

She doesn't even have to take much pain medicine. She's just doing so so sosossoso very well. I need for everyone to know Can you tell I'm so thankful and excited? I need for everyone to know

She can't lift the baby for a week, so mammaw's doing his primary care 24/7 and keeping him every night, but that's just a joy for me, yes? I need for everyone to know

She already acts differently and it might just be wishful thinking, but I don't think so. The biggest thing I've noticed is that she talks more slowly, and doesn't interrupt or become offensive nearly as quickly in conversations.

She's had ZERO of the even normal complications so far. We won't be out of the clear for a couple of days yet in regards to the parathyroid glands being "shocked" so we're still watching for signs of severe calcium deficiency. So far, none though.

Thank you so much!

KD

{{{{{kd & family}}}}}

so glad to hear your daughter is recovering well from the surgery.
make sure they keep testing her free T3 & T4 levels, once she is on full thyroid replacement meds, as the meds can need frequent adjustment.

Take care of yourself & the little one, as you will probably need lots of strength during your daughter's recovery.

All strength & loving power to you & all your family.

Thank you everyone!

Zorah, thank you for reminding me of something I didn't update on...her level and meds and plans for the future!

They did a *complete* removal of the thyroid, not partial. As such, she'll forever be hypothyroid (which is much better for her considering).

She will still be seeing the surgeon *and* the endo to have her levels checked. The surgeon and endo had a conference and decided to start her out smack dab in the middle with her replacement thyroid hormone therapy and they will monitor her levels and go up or down from there. After about six months, she should stay pretty stable in her levels.

She's still just doing SO INCREDIBLY WELL. She's had no signs of the calcium deficiency, minimal pain and going to just plain motrin now, good engery for having had the surgery, etc. I think she is just so excited that it's done, but also had worked herself up for the worse in a preparation kind of way (but also knowing that she's had so many worse case scenerios with this), that it's literally been a piece of cake for her.

I have to help alot with the baby until Friday then I'm sending the lot of 'em packing with a smile on my face! LOL. Seriously, I should see a much more normal life come Friday...we all should. I need for everyone to know

I just really want everyone reading this to make sure to have a simple blood test if you have heart racing/palpitations, insomnia, overly energetic then "crash", panic or anxiety...seriously these are all major symptoms of hyperthyroid and it's missed so much as MI or emotional difficulties when IT CAN BE PHYSICAL.

Thank you all so much!

KD

Hi KD,

Having a major body party removed has got to be worrisome for everyone involved.

Glad everything turned out so well.

Me too-- so glad that things are going well. I bet you are tired, don't forget to give yourself some TLC.

A sister of mine had to have the same operation at the same age for the same-- Graves disease. Her little boy was two years old then, though.

My family has much thyroid illnesses, I have been on thyroid meds since my twenties and will have to be the rest of my life due to Hashimoto's Thyroid disease. The doctors will probably tell your daughter that after her levels have been balanced that it's a good thing to get them checked every year.

(((((((kimmydawn)))))))))))) i'm so sorry i haven't been able to keep up lately. i'm so, so glad it's all going so well for your daughter. i've had my thyroid tested so many times - normal every time. lol. anyway, i know what it's like to go through something like this.

i've been seriously depressed and haven't been loggin on as much as usual. it's bad. but, the good news is that i finally WON the battle with my insurance company for coverage on a treatment i needed for so long. i'll be getting in a month or two, hence my absence - again. it's going to take me a long time to recover. i need many prayers as well. i'm just so glad your daughter is doing as well as she is doing. it's so amazing.

when i was born, doctors told my mother that i would not make it and to institutionalize me for life. i proved the docs wrong - lol.
