Hi,

Do you ever hate it when you cry? Either alone or in front of other people? I hate when I cry in front of others and it is even worse when I cry alone. I fight it all the time. I don’t find crying helps at all I just feel worse. It didn’t help me even when I was a young kid and cried myself to sleep a lot.

Thanks for this!

Dear RavenGirl1990,

I feel the same except that lately I have lost the ability to cry. Don't know why?

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

It could be your meds. I found I had the same problem for years, but I cry easily now.

Crying in front of people is usually embarrassing. Sometimes, like at a funeral, it’s expected and others are crying, too. Those times don’t normally bring embarrassment. It’s times when you have broken down and attention is brought to you for it, then it’s embarrassing.

I developed severe crying over a relationship issue, which is what made me seek therapy. I was finally put on an anti anxiety med, which instantly, magically stopped the heavy flow of tears. It felt like I was still just as upset and a few tears would come, but joyfully for me, no more severe, debilitating, embarrassing crying.

I’m sorry you cried yourself to sleep often as a kid. Address the issues that are upsetting you and causing you to cry. Try to get to the root of it and stop whatever it is, then you will not cry over the current cause which is bothering you. (I know it’s easier said than done)

I cried every single day for as long as I can remember, sometimes all day long. At the first of the year, I started doing ketamine infusions. It was a miracle at first, but a couple of months ago it just stopped working....poof, no more happy. Everyone wants to just give me more drugs. I am so done with that worthless ****. 20 years and I still cry every day. My doctor and therapist want me to go into long term residential. I don't see what good it will do, but at least there I can't hurt anyone.

So did i. When i was rejected by the first girl i fancied in year 8 secondary school, i cried because she turned me down. It was horrible. I have learnt to live with rejection, i am used to it nowadays. Rejection hurts at first but it makes us so much stronger later on. If you are good, personal demons have to keep switching because one on its own cannot do much.

Always make sure you get your feelings off your chest to someone, holding them in is a big problem.
