I've been reading this type of information for many years, and it continues to prove to be true. I am an advocate of eating healthily, first adding nutritional foods that a diet is lacking, and then eliminating the non-foods. We are a chemical being, and not feeding the body with nutrition that it requires does seem to only allow for more things to not work properly.

It would be good if nutrition was the only solution we needed, but alas, I think we are beyond it being just one thing!

Good reading, btw.

Thanks teejai. Great article. Good to see a trend towards including nutritional supplements in the treatment of mental illness. Or at least validating its effectiveness.

Be nice if health plans would pay for nutritional supplements like they do psych drugs. And if doctors would address the hiden nutritial deficiencies before rushing to treat the exposed psychosis. Treat the root rather than bandage the sores.

It's a shame more doctors and the mainstream health care systems aren't more informed and supportive of nutritional therapies and aren't more supportive of people who prefer to include them in their treatment programs.

Leaves a lot of non compliant people mis-self-treating themselves with supplements that may or may not have the most effective levels and complement of ingredients.

Be nice too if there was a way to get a subsidy or maybe a tax benefit for eating health foods. Food stamps for fruit and vegetables and fish. Few can afford the cost of the food one is suppose to eat everyday to get the level of nutrients recommended.

National health care plans should include subsidizing or rewarding production and consumption of healthy food. Somehow fresh fruit, vegetables and other foods should be accessable to everyone. The pressure on our health care systems would drop instantly. If people ate well the majority of illnesses we are facing today would decline.

Just me babbling........
