Wasn't sure where to post this as I'm just sharing...

I went to the MN democratic caucus last night and while I just went to vote, I became a delegate (largely due to a short speech I gave regarding a resolution I opposed). I've never done this before and I'm excited.

Having been frustrated by politics for seven years and roughly twenty days, it feels really good to be this involved. In my teens I was very politically active and I forgot, I think, how good it can feel to take part.

Heh, maybe I can represent the crazy vote!

Thanks all!

And nowhere, I didn't write my speech in advance, it was pretty spontaneous. But I did TONS of debate, student congress, speech, and drama in highschool and college so I riff pretty well. Cyran0 Goes Political

Cyrano, how cool! I'd love to hear about your experiences as a delegate, so I hope you write more about this in the coming months.

Wow Cyran0 - that's wonderful...and impressive! I admire your willingness to get involved and to help make a difference.

Our political process is so interesting, yet confusing and...well maddening at times, that we need more people to actually get involved in a higher level more than just voting (not that there's anything wrong with that - voting is SO important).

I'm signed up to volunteer for my candidate so I hope it turns out that I'll be doing something helpful soon too. Oh, and Ditto Perna's comment ! Cyran0 Goes Political

Best of luck to you and thank you for stepping up to the plate in this very important election!!

Wow, thanks everyone! I really wasn't expecting much of a response to this thread. You guys are awesome.

Oh, and I didn't mean to be secretive. I voted Obama but that's just a preference. I'll happily vote Clinton if she wins.

My district went to Obama.

And yeah, I will be careful about stress levels/anxiety, etc.

Cyran0, I think it's great you are getting involved again in our political process!

I would just like to remind you and our other members that PC guidelines request that you limit political discussions as many hold strong opinions on this subject. Thanks for your understanding of this guideline.

Congrats on taking part and taking your responsibility to the political process seriously!

Where, other than here on PC, where political debate is verboten, can we access the topics and your own thoughts?

Oh, I didn't realize that political was off limits. But that said, I didn't want this to become a political discussion anyway. I was more just sharing an event in my life.

To adhere to site policy, feel free to lock this thread or, alternatively, people can just refrain from posting after this and the thread will quickly get pushed out of view.

Sorry if sharing this offended anyone for any reason.

We understand the meaning of your sharing and that's a wonderful accomplishment for you! Bravo!

I know that the "political nature" of your huge step comes in at a distant second, so we just posted a reminder, hoping that members will comment on the accomplishment while not going in-depth into political. Cyran0 Goes Political

Cyran0,

I think it is so wonderful to be able to use your talents for good & for getting involved. I am glad that you shared this & hope you continued fulfillment.

I think it's such a wonderful feeling when we find things that were part of us in the past, that we enjoyed, that we were great at & seem to have lost over the years. Sometimes it's like finding ourselves....finding that which was lost. It makes us feel alive again when this happens & I am very excited for you.

Way to go Cyran0,
Debbie
