I know we have had alot of rain lately but no flooding for us here yet. one of our major lakes is back up to full pool but our main water source is still quite low. I think it is up just over 2 ft.

We have some flooding here in NW Arkansas. Tuesday our airport was shut down due to the rain and several highways were shut down. I did some driving around yesterday as I just wanted to get out of the house and do some thinking and drove through this little town called Cave Springs and their lake was out of its banks and over the road.

They are still searching for a man that got washed out of his car and into a what used to be a stream but became a river. The bad thing is it is flows into the White River and the White River is too high for them to send the divers into it to check for him.

marion and carbondale are right next to this big lake called crab orchard. well it flooded lol. that was 2 days ago and its still flooded. piers where fishermen dock their boats are completely underwater. there is this huge patch of farmland, probably about 50 acres - ish. its a few feet down off the road and had some farm equipment on it. well over 3/4 of the farm equipment isnt visible. some people are completely baracaded in their houses. and were not even that far south. and on campus it was almost impossible to walk anywhere. dorms were closed in, we had power outages all day, sidewalks were flooded - good times. this is the second time this has happened since we moved here. only this time its lasting longer.

well we drove past the worst part of the flood (like 16 counties in southern illinois are considered disaster areas). i took several pictures with my phone but now i can't access them on my computer.

well anyways... there were farms with hundreds of acres gone. roads are under water and there are waves! the water is so deep that there are waves! im talking as far as the eye can see.... water. farms are completely gone. totalled. houses look like theyre surrounded by a moat. its crazy. i was driving 60 though so you cant even pick out that its water. there is one shot of a siloh in the middle of the "lake". kinda erie looking.

thats the damage here.

The Miami horse racetrack had to close early today (messing up all the other racetracks in the country; there was a big $500,000 contest with 5 races but 2 of them were the Miami track which closed early and they had to cancel the contest) because it was raining so hard.

Major floods striking America’s heartland this week offer a preview of the spring seasonal outlook, according to NOAA’s National Weather Service. Several factors will contribute to above-average flood conditions, including record rainfall in some states and snow packs, which are melting and causing rivers and streams to crest over their banks. This week, more than 250 communities in a dozen states are experiencing flood conditions.

hope you all are doing ok....

So far so good today the sun is shining so hopefully no rain here. I watched the news this morning to see if I needed to take a jacket to the family thing and they said the rain should go south of us. They really don't need it down there. The man they have been searching for still hasn't been found so please pray for that family. His truck got washed away in a flash flood and he got out and they haven't been able to find his body. The river that his truck is in flows into the White River and it is running very quickly and it is to fast to send the divers in.

well its raining here again. theres about 100,000 acres of land totally flooded and its not stopping yet. down here, corn should be planted around the first of april. so if this doesnt clear up in the next week a lot of farmers are going to be screwed. hope everyone else is okay.

i had read something right after Katrina... cant remember all the details... it is related tho and the expectations at that time (right after the storm) was that it would take about 15 years to recover from Katrina... these conditions now current were forecast at that time...

this is all so sad...

what i dont understand about katrina is why people are going back. that area has been steadily losing land and flooding every so often. so why do people keep moving back? here in about 15-20 years its going to happen again and guess what... theyll go back again. i dont understand that. leave the damn gulf!!

Well we didn't get any rain on Easter or since the weekend. They are predicting some for this weekend though. The southern wind we are having is supposed to be blowing in the mositure needed to spawn showers and storms. I feel for all the families affected by the floods and am glad that my family all lives on high ground.
