***Warning - If you visit the link, you just get the article. However there are links to the video in question which are VERY graphic. If easily triggered I suggest you avoid the videos.******

POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- Video was released late Monday afternoon showing a brutal beating at the hands of a gang of teenage girls. Their motivation for the attack was allegedly so they could post the video on YouTube and MySpace.

Okay, What the hell is wrong with some teenagers these days? I mean sure I was bad sometimes but I never ever ever would have done something this horrific.
It seems like Im hearing worse and worse crimes by minors as time goes on.

I'm not easily triggered, but I don't think ANYONE should watch this video... IMO, it was irresponsible of the media and disrespectful to the victim to make it available. How would anyone like a video of them being raped to be broadcast online and on TV? Why is this any better?

No offense Rainbowzz, but I don't think we should be encouraging people to watch this.

if we dont see it on video, we close our eyes to the reality of whats really going on in the lives of teenagers......it might be hurtful to some, but the good far outweighs the bad.....in my opinion

I'm not saying that the news shouldn't be reported, but posting the video takes it a step too far.

My apologies Rainbowzz - I didn't read your first post carefully - you only posted a link to the article, not to the video itself, and you did advise us not to watch the video. My sloppiness...

Yeah, pretty sad I say.

watched the video.

Sadly - it happens all the time. I got jumped on by a few people in middle school one time.

There's a lot of violence at that age. Even when I was in school.

dr. phil didnt bail the girls out, people who work for him did. not that that makes it okay, just for clarification.

did anyone hear a while back about these girls (and their parents) who made a fake myspace page about a fake boy named josh. they wanted to get back at one of their "friends" so they sent her messages saying how much he liked her etc... well then they (under the name josh) turned around and said that he didnt like her anymore etc... she had depression and some other mental issues... she killed herself. the parents were helping these kids torment this girl! seems like i see more mental and emotional "violence" than physical.

I didn't get jumped in middle school, but only thanks to the intervention of the rivals of the bully girls who were planning to jump me. I don't even know whether my interventionists really gave a hoot about ME - I think they were just trying to counter whatever their rivals wanted to do.

Scary indeed. And like Starponysmama said, this was a long time ago (1982 maybe?)

I did hear that story saluki, I think it ended up on Dateline or something like that. So sad. And I can see how it would happen, people are so easily influenced at that age.

Regarding the video...I didn't watch it, but I somewhat agree with Lmo that watching it only gives the beaters exactly what they wanted. Fame. Glory. Attention.

No, we shouldn't pretend it didn't happen. But perhaps respect the victim by not watching their moment of horror?

Not to stretch this too far....but I know there are several abuse victims on this very page. Would you want your attacks broadcast over the internet?

Yes, the attackers should be punished and yes, the story needs to be told. But let's respect the privacy of the victim here.

I saw the mother of the kid whose house this occurred in, and she was a piece of work. She started out with, "First of all, my daughter did nothing wrong..." or some BS.
How could you let that happen in your own house?!

Honestly........ from his POV as a doctor - he was probably trying to help her so she does not get lost in the justice system (like so many teenagers do) and become a more dangerous person as she ages in prison.

I fell for the poor girl that was beaten up - as no one should have to go thru such a brutal thing and especially during the wonderful years of being a teen. Girls Record Brutal Attack On Teen To Allegedly Post On YouTube
