I'm with you Gary, that Northridge earthquake in 1994 was quite traumatic......it collapsed the freeway that I had to use to get out of where I lived & it was my way to work....that was the one that the police motorcyclist was killed on when it collapsed under him. It took me 6 hours to get to work after that.....there was no way to get to work from where I lived without having to go all the way around the area on the back roads. I lived in the Antelope Valley & worked in Thousand Oaks.....had to go in through Filmore & Simi Valley (where you are). When I first drove into the SanFernando Valley where Northridge is, it looked like it had been bombed.....there were little puff's of smoke all over the place & holes in streats that your whole car would get lost in....let alone all th crumbled buildings......Earthquakes can be very devistating & Caliornia has seen many of those.

I am glad this earthquake was relatively mild....but even the mild ones can do damage depending on the age of the buildings.

I cannot imagine having to drive the 23 between Fillmore and Moorpark daily. It is difficult enough to do it occasionally for business, but daily???

Where did you work in Thousand Oaks?

I'm glad there was no damage. Today is my birthday - I'm fitty. earthquake Mother nature has given me some interesting presents for my birthday. earthquake For my 9th, we had a huge tornado come through our town. Unfortunately, there was a lot of damage, injuries and loss of life. However, if it hadn't been my birthday it would have taken my father too (he came home early that day for me). Now I can place "earthquake" on my list of gifts received. earthquake I was pretty twisted during my adolescence, so I guess now it's time to shake, rattle and roll. earthquake
