i got detention today!
i have never had to go to detention before.
I got it for "causing disturbance in class"
if you guys read my last post you know whats going on at school these past two days. And so when i turned around to say EXCUSE ME?! to chris for call me the C word my teacher wrote me up. when i got called down to the office i started crying. i never get in trouble and this isnt even my fault i was standing up for kyle (the kid mike was poking) and i get called not only the most degrading name but i also get detention. when i told my mom she was so mad at me. she was like you know what i am not sure how i feel about you and school right now and i was like yeah well its not all abnout you mom, what about how i feel? im the one who has to go to the school. i just need to scream. i just need to....

School is never easy for anyone...and I can relate.

I remember getting 14 days outside suspension because other people were bullying me...I stand up once and they think I'm the bad guy...

school can be very unfair at times, I remember many instances that made no sense. Sorry this happened to you.

It's a hard life lesson, when you behave approriately, do the right thing, and things don't turn out right.

Life is not always fair.

Male students should not be allowed to make sexually demeaning comments to fellow female students, and not have it addressed. Punishing you at the same time sends the wrong message.

Sorry that happened to you Court Knee. Unfortunately, it's a life lesson in high school that's not advertised in the curriculum - i.e., "life isn't fair, and you're always responsible for your own actions." It's important to stand up for what's right, but it's equally important to follow the rules in life. You're not really in a fight with the world - you are learning to walk the tightrope.

Sorry to hear you fell off the tightrope. I'm glad you have friends here who can serve as your net. My son used to get picked on a lot at school by teachers and students alike.

i already said it was a male teacher

and yeah i guess life isnt fair i already knew that but i think that if i ever had to choose between standing up for a person being picked on or following the rules i would definitly stand up for the kid.

I was all upset about this but when you look at it wasnt Jesus always hurt for doing what was right too? Detention is nothing..

That's right, and sometimes standing up for someone means having to pay a price yourself. It sucks that you got a detention, but you can go away knowing you did the right thing and you've proven yourself to be a friend.

I hope you'll be able to avoid the wrath of your teacher from here on out. He doesn't sound worth risking your own record over.

My suggestion is to get a T-shirt made that says
on the front:

"I got detention for correcting a male student for using the C word"

And on the back
"Who is right?"

And wear it the week you have assigned detention.

yeah i dont think i should make a t.shirt to fight this.

You don't have to spell out the C word.

And then you can simply state that you have the right to free speech....

I was a hellion in HS, so I may not be the best to give advice. LOL

Yes we all have the right to free speech
but we also have the right to keep our mouth closed

the bigger person knows when to walk away
because honestly yeah i was upset then but
only God can judge me

I would rather impress the big guy than get my way at school.
