I just discovered this movie on Youtube (and finished watching it) it's a really nice family kind of animated film.

I don't want to spoil the plot for anybody what wants to watch it, but the basic story is about a goat and a wolf who become friends one day after one stormy night, they talked together while taking shelter in an old barn. They didn't know they they were two different spiecies because it was really very dark in the room, but they talked together and realised that they were both very similiar and decided to become good friends. They became "secret" friends because they knew that nobody would accept the two of them because well...wolves eat goats. Sadly, there secret really wasn't a secret for very long, and so they could stay friends and stay alive, they decided to run away together across a mountain.

You can kind of tell that the movie is suppossed to be for kids, but I still liked watching it anyways. It's really cute (even if there are a few sad parts) the animation was really pretty minus the less-than-subtle CGI here and there.

Thank you Kaika. It sounds really great..I just wish my internet connection was faster so I could watch it. I like to watch movies that are suppossed to be little kids movies too..they are really nice and make ya feel all happy and warm. They are a wonderful relief from the sometimes depressing day to day thing. Thank you Kaika you always share the neatest things!!

Well, it was a REALLY big hit in Japan, and they are planning on releasing it in the US soon. I'm not sure if it will be in theatres or not, but I'll still buy the english DVD when it comes out. So far I think it has been released in Japan, Taiwan, and a few other far-eastern countries, as well as Sweden.

Well, the english version's page is here (the title has been translated to simply "stormy night") it doesn't say when it is going to be released though. You can kinda tell it's from Japan when you watch it though because I swear for the first part of the film they really can't stop talking about how they're friends and so much alike. "Arashi no Yoru Ni (One Stormy Night)" I really like how the animals are drawn and are animated in this movie, it's a pretty good balence between realism, japanese animation, and the old cartoon style (you know, like Tom & Jerry, roadrunner etc.)

Is your avatar from the movie? I like japanse animation it is always so smooth looking yet still kinda of rough like they didn't erase all of the pencil marks it's very expressive.

Yep! It's from the movie, I decided that I wanted to make one from the movie using a bunch off different screenshots that I took, and then decided which one I liked best.

I like all kinds of animation, but it seems to me that the US isn't making 2D movies anymore and when they do...they just don't have that same feel to it anymore. Just watch Balto and then afterwards watch Balto 3 and see what I mean. Japan still likes it's animated movies though, and while not everyone of them is high quality- I like them alot more then what companies like Disney are producing these days.

What I DON'T like about Japanese (as well as other country's) movies is that with almost every recent animated movie that I've watched, they like to stick a bunch of CGI in there too. I get how it has good intentions of making the movie look better, but it really sticks out to me (and is kinda tacky IMO) just because 2D and 3D just don't mix very well.
