I have been with a Home Health care agency for 3 years this month. I
started out at 8.40 and am still at 8.40 until next month when the company delivers there first raises of 15 cents. I work 40 hours a week, and yes they offer benefits, but they want to take too much out of my paycheck for them...... so here is my predicament. I put in an application yesterday and literally a half hour later I recieved a phone call where the woman did a phone screen and scheduled an interview + i have to do some computer testing. Which by the way im not worried about because i am good with computers. The reason she is rushing everything : Their company offers 6 weeks of training classes before you go out on your own, basically ill be working in a call center for Coventry Healthcare helping those who are filing claims and curious about there insurance plans. There is no selling, or calling people. These classes start Monday and they dont have another one starting till September. They offer 11.50 an hour + full paid benefits and ill be recieveing 40 hours a week. I have done a buanch of research and it seems like everything is totally ligit. Now heres the problem..... I wont be able to put my 2 weeks in at my employer now, I called my supervisor who is also a friend and talked to her about it and well lets just say shes very jacked. Which i understand because she will have problems filling my caseload. So what do I do ...... do what is best for me, or what is morally correct. I have always done what is better for everyone else, but i really want this job, and i think its whats best for me. Oy HELP! |

I think that you should do whats best for you. It's always nice to give two weeks notice but sometimes when you get a chance to better your situation it's just not possible. Good luck I know this must be a very difficult decision. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This is a dilemma for sure. No one wants to burn their bridges when moving onto another position. Do you have vacation time coming to you? Two weeks worth? Tell them you are taking your 2 weeks vacation now and that is also your 2 week notice??? Just a thought...it may not work for you.
Sometimes we have to do what is right for ourselves. Opportunities don't always come along easily and it's dog eat dog out there in the job market these days. I'm sure that your employer has had things like this happen before and it will certainly happen again. Bottom line is that if you need to make more money to survive (rising prices put us there all the time right?) then you have to do what you have to do. I also work in a similar line of work and know that the pay for these kinds of jobs is the pits. It's the bottom of the barrel so to speak. Leaving clients is never easy and it can weigh heavy on your heart as well. Maybe making a list of pros vs cons will help you with your decision? Wishing you well! ![]() sabby |

You are in a tough spot. There are pros and cons to both. If I worked for a place for 3 years with no benefits and no raise, I'd probably not be too concerned about the notice. The only problem is if you some day need them for a reference. I hope it all works out for you...good luck.
