I just love this song.

Broken -- Seether

I wanted you to know
that I love the way you laugh
I wanna hold you high
and steal your pain away
I keep your photograph
and I know it serves me well
I wanna hold you high
and steal your pain

Cuz I'm broken
when I'm lonesome
and I don't feel right
when you're gone away

You've gone away..
You don't feel me here anymore....

The worst is over now
and we can breathe again
I wanna hold you high
You steal my pain away
There's so much left to learn
and no one left to fight
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

cuz I'm broken
when I'm open
and I don't feel like
I am strong enough
Cuz I'm broken
when I'm lonesome
and I don't feel right
when you're gone away....

Cuz I'm broken
when I'm open
and I don't feel like
I am strong enough
cuz I'm broken
when I'm lonesome
and I don't feel right
when you're gone away.....

Cuz I'm broken when I'm lonesome
and I don't feel right when you're gone......

You've gone away...
You don't feel me
here
anymore.

This is really sad. I sang this song to my husband on our way home when we were visiting his dad a year and a half ago. He was dying of cancer and we had just visited with him for the last time, and made the trip 200 mi. home. We both cried. My father-in-law passed away two days later.

sorry to be a bummer, but I'm thinking of my "parents" tonight. (my husband's parents)

I relate so much to this song

Finding myself by Smile Empty Soul

I don't care anymore if I let you down
I believe that I need to be free
I'm so used to my life with you around
I don't know anymore the real me

And I thought that I found myself today
And I thought that I had control
All the change in my life just fell away
For a moment, I didn't need you...

All these tears that I've cried you must be tired of
Taking care of me
But it's what you do best and I'm a liar cuz
Really it's what I need.

And I thought that I found myself today
And I thought that I had control
All the change in my life just fell away
for a moment, I didn't need you.

Someone like you
Someone like me
Maybe it's change that sets you free.
Free.....

And I thought that I found myself today
And I thought that I had control
All the change in my life just fell away,
For a moment I didn't need you....

"It's Been A While" by Staind

And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile
Since I first saw you
And it's been awhile
Since I could stand on my own two feet again
And it's been awhile
Since I could call you

And everything I can't remember
As (edited) up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I've stretched myself beyond my means

And it's been awhile
Since I can say that I wasn't addicted
And it's been awhile
Since I can say I love myself as well
And it's been awhile
Since I've gone and (edited) things up just like I always do
And it's been awhile
But all that sh** seems to disappear when I'm with you

And everything I can't remember
As (edited) up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I've gone and (edited) things up again

Why must I feel this way?
Just make this go away
Just one more peaceful day!

And it's been awhile
Since I could look at myself straight
And it's been awhile
Since I said I'm sorry
And it's been awhile
Since I've seen the way the candle lights your face
And it's been awhile
But I can still remember just the way you taste

And everything I can't remember
As (edited) up as it all may seem to be I know it's me
I cannot blame this on my father
He did the best he could for me

And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile
Since I said I'm sorry

Faye I'm 27. I have a very real love of music and poetry. They're just two different forms of the same thing. I have been exposed to a wide range of music, and have come to appreciate it so much. I am a music dork.

I made some graphics for SweetCrusader. I will get to work on you an avatar as soon as I get my hubby off to work Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~

Hope everyone is doing well.

Kimberly

P.S. Sept: Let me know which songs you want and I can try to tell you where to find them Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~

I want the Staind song and Broken and one more.....but if I go "back", I'll lose my text.........Could I have an owl, wise, for kickass avatar????? OR you could do what you see me having just from us getting acquainted here...that would be cool.

And yes, SM, I'm wild. I was just writing to Slowhand....he's going to Oman.......we were talking about our lives and I've led a pretty charmed one. Back to Oman, I'm scared to death for him to go there. He's lived in several muslim countries but I'm still worried about him. Sorry to get into this on this thread. We can talk somewhere else about him......xoxo Pat

Pat:

I found some owl .gif's...I'll resize them and mix them up a bit, would you like your name on it ? Pat or fayerody or no name at all? I think I'll do a few of each. Look for my pm Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~

I use TrustyFiles and that's where I downloaded some of the newer songs that I have (like Smile Empty Soul) but the Staind files I got from WinMX quite a while back. If you can't find them, let me know and I'll look around the file sharing I have.

Take Care,
Kimberly.

Far Behind by Candlebox

Now maybe I didn't mean to treat you bad
but I did it anyway
Now maybe some would say your life was sad
But you lived it anyway
And now maybe
Your friends they stand beside they watch you crumble
As you falter to the ground
And now maybe
Your friends they stand beside as you were flying
Oh you were flying oh so high
But then some day people look at you for what they call their own
They watch you suffer
Yeah they hear you calling home
But then some day we could take our time
To brush the leaves aside so you can reach us
But you left me far behind
Now maybe I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain
No, no, no
Couldn’t share the pain they watch you suffer
Now maybe I could have made my own mistakes
But I live with what I’ve known
Yes maybe we might share in something great
But won’t you look at where we’ve grown
Won’t you look at where we’ve gone
But then someday comes tomorrow holds a sense of what I fear for you in my mind
As you trip the final line
And that cold day when you lost control
Shame you left my life
So soon you should have told me
But you left me far behind
Now maybe I didn’t meant to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
Now maybe some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain
No, no, no
Now maybe I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad
But I did it anyway
No maybe some would say you’re left with what you had
But you couldn’t share the pain
I said times have changed your friends
They come and watch you crumble to the ground
They watch you suffer
Yeah they hold you down
Hold you down
Maybe brother maybe love I didn’t mean to treat you bad
But you left me far behind
Left me far behind
Left me far behind

Looky, looky, I have a new pic with my NAME on it!!! Thank you, again and again, Ktp!!!

My old standby, Bob Dylan

I'm walkin' through the summer nights
The jukebox playing low
Yesterday everything was goin' too fast
Today it's movin' too slow

I got no place left to turn
I got nothin' left to burn

Don't know if I saw you if I would kiss you or kill you
It probably wouldn't matter to you anyhow
You left me standing in the doorway cryin'
I got nothin' to go back to now.

The light in this place is so bad
Makin' me sick in the head
All the laughter is just makin' me sad
The stars have turned cherry red

I'm strummin' on my gay guitar
Smokin' a cheap cigar

The ghost of our old love has not gone away
Don't look it like it will anytime soon
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
Under the midnight moon.

Maybe they'll get me and maybe they won't
But not tonight and it won't be here
There are things I could say, but I don't
I know the mercy of God must be near

I been ridin a midnight train
Got ice water in my veins

I would be crazy if I took you back
It would go up against every rule
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
Sufferin' like a fool.

When the last rays of daylight go down
Buddy you're old no more
I can hear the church bells ringin' in the yard
I wonder who they're ringin' for

I know I can't win
But my heart just won't give in

Last night I danced with a stranger
But she just reminded me you were the one
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
In the dark land of the sun.

I eat when I'm hungry drink when I'm dry
And live my life on the square
And even if the flesh falls off of my face
I know someone will be there to care

It always means so much
Even the softest touch

I see nothing to be gained by any explanation
There's no words that need to be said
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
Blues wrapped around my head

This album, Trouble in Time, really turned me around about Bob Dylan. I liked him, but now I love him........I saw him in person recently with Willie Nelson and he's beginning to look more and more like Vincent Price!!!! His annoying little voice and those eyes and that nose!! I just love the guy!!! Gotta go to work.........weekends kill me. Think good thoughts! Pat

I have always used music when I feel bad... and usually differen t music from what I usually listen to... A couple of years ago I had a major crash. I have been struggling with episodes of depression since I was a child, and often they come without any trigger. This time I had several triggers... I was newly divorced, living alone for the first time in many years. I had econimical probelms etc etc. The real big bang came when I went into a fight with my best, and that that time only, friend. She had been abusing amphtetamines for over a year, and was desperately trying to get off. I had been supporting and helping her all the time, but at some point I just couldn't manage anymore... one thing lead to another, and suddenly we were not on talking terms.

I locked myself in for a week, just lying in bed crying. Pulled out the phone, locked the door, pulled the curtains in front of the window. I had some CD's that I had gotten in the mail from an abroad friend a few days before, classical music. Now, Im a ounk and rock and heavy and grunge queen... but I stuffed one into the CD player of my laptop and put on some hight tech earphones (?)...

It was Mozart, one pieanoconcertyo (nr 21 I think) and a couple of symphonies. And I swear, it cured meWell, not exactly cured me, but it rocked me out of the apathy and made me go back to the living again.

The music took absolutely all bad thoughts out of my head, it calmed me, soothed me, made me relax completely... and lifted my mood. It was if the pianocords where in my brains, and for every touch on the tangents there was a chemical explosion in my head.

Later on I told my frien abroad that I got the CD's from about this. He just looked at me, smiled, and said "Of course, it is Mozart. What did you expect?".

I have read books about the Mozart effect (which is another thing but still something that is supposed to come from his music, so I mention it anyway), and I know that proper reasearch has shown that the Mozart effect is not really there, it's just another rumour. But knowing how easily Mozart produced his music, and knowing how much he managed to produce despite his short and wild life (and also being of the opinion that music is a necessity in human beings life)... I am convinced that his music is good for your health (at least for quite a lot of people).

When I got pregnant I played Mozart for my child every day when she was in my womb. Now she's 1,5, and chooses her music herself (and prefer something that she can ROCK to, hehe)... but Mozart has a place in my heart that will stay there for the rest of my life.

Bob Dylan.....

Johnny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin' for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten
Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin' that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phone's tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early May
Orders from the D. A.
Look out kid
Don't matter what you did
Walk on your tip toes
Don't try No Doz
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You don't need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows
Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin' to sell
Try hard, get barred
Get back, write braille
Get jailed, jump bail
Join the army, if you fail
Look out kid
You're gonna get hit
But losers, cheaters
Six-time users
Hang around the theaters
Girl by the whirlpool
Lookin' for a new fool
Don't follow leaders
Watch the parkin' meters
Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don't steal, don't lift
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don't wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don't wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don't work
'Cause the vandals took the handles

My "friend", Bill aka Slowhand, is going to Oman.......that's scary. But his longtime wish is to go into space. So, I sent him this song the other day.........p

Drops Of Jupiter
by Train

1.
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Chorus 1
Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated
Chorus 2
Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

2.
Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Chorus 3
Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way
Chorus 4
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

3.
Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

[Repeat Chorus 3]
[Repeat Chorus 1]

This song really helped me out at a certain bad point in my life.

I was listening to the radio and thinking really very bad things and I looked in the mirror and really paid attention to myself and realized I didn't recognize the girl looking back at me. I was somebody's mother? I was someone's wife? I didn't even know who I was I just knew how I felt at that very moment. Then this song put it all in perspective. So this has been a song dedicated to me by me ever since Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~

___________________________________________________________________

"The Outsider" by A Perfect Circle

Help me if you can
It's just that this, this is not the way I'm wired
So could you please,

Help me understand why
You've given in to all these
Reckless dark desires

You're lying to yourself again
Suicidal imbecile
Think about it, put it on the faultline
What'll it take to get it through to you PRECIOUS
Over this. Why do you wanna throw it away like this
Such a mess. I don't want to watch you.

Disconnect and self destruct one bullet at a time
What's your rush now, everyone will have his day to die.

Medicated, drama queen, picture perfect, numb belligerence
Narcissistic, drama queen, craving fame and all its decadence

Lying through your teeth again
Suicidal imbecile
Think about it, put it on the fautline
What'll it take to get it through to you precious
Go with this, why do you wanna throw it away like this
Such a mess, I don't wanna watch you...

Disconnect and self destruct one bullet at a time
What's your rush now, everyone will have his day to die

They were right about you.....
They were right about you.....

Lying to my face again
Suicidal imbecile
Think about it put it on the fautline
What'll it take to get it through to you precious
Over this, why do you wanna throw it away like this
Such a mess, Coalesce, Coalesce

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet at a time
What's your hurry, everyone will have his day to die
If you choose to pull the trigger, should your drama prove sincere,
Do it somewhere far away from here!

Thousand Mile Wish by Finger Eleven

Forgive me if now I wear the face of worry
This time alone could never cause any doubt
But I’ve been cold too long
Such a strange time to find myself coming down as the rain
With all these holes my love,
To fill up from the middle
This storm could stay all night

So can you stay until we close our eyes
Til your dreams hold mine
Just stay until we know we tried one more time

Cause laughing lovers can overcome their closest demons
And they’ll go on and they won’t let go
They saw something that they know
Has never come so close
Can it stay here for us, for now?

Can it stay until we know ourselves?
I’m torn as I tell
You’re the story that I know and fell from
I’m so far into your story I don’t know why
We think we’re in control
When we lie between the lines

We’ll find a line to follow
It’s got to show real soon
Or we’ll never reach this high

We climb a little further
Cause there’s nothing we can’t get around together
Further gets colder until nothing was all that I saw around

So we stay until the ground
That we can’t come down from splits us away
Maybe stars know why we fall
I just wish they were thinking out loud
Oh, I could wish all night

Epiphany by Staind

Your words to me just a whisper
Your face is so unclear
I try to pay attention
Your words just disappear

'Cause its always raining in my head
Forget all the things I should have said

So I speak to you in riddles because
My words get in my way. I smoke the
whole thing to my head and feel it
wash away 'cause i can't take anymore
of this, I want to come apart
or dig myself a little hole inside
your precious heart

'Cause its always raining in my head
Forget all the things I should have said

I am nothing more than a little boy inside
That cries out for attention
yet I always try to hide
'Cause I talk to you like children,
Though I don't know how I feel
But I know I'll do the right thing
If the right thing is revealed

'Cause its always raining in my head
Forget all the things I should have said

Thanks Pat Music Thread~~~How a Song has Affected you~~ I am still looking for a special song for you. It's so hard for me to choose a "favorite" song. There are soooo many and many different kinds to choose from.

I want to share this song because it's uplifting for me because of the lyrics. Doesn't feel so lonely sometimes, even when I am lonely.
___________________________________________________________________

Hold On by Good Charlotte

This world
This world is cold
But you don't
You don't have to go
You're feeling sad, you're feeling lonely, and no one seems to care
Your mother's gone and your father hits you
This pain you cannot bear

But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know

Your days
You say they're way too long
And your nights
You can't sleep at all
Hold on
And you're not sure what you're waiting for, but you don't want to know more
And you're not sure what you're looking for, but you don't want to know more

But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on

What are you looking for?
What are you waiting for?
Do you know what you're doing to me?
Go ahead...What are you waiting for?

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know

"Numb" by Linkin Park (yes, Angela, the dreaded Linkin Park lol)

I'm tired of being what you want me to be
Feeling so faithless lost under the surface
Don't know what you're expecting of me
Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

Can't you see that you're smothering me
Holding too tightly afraid to lose control
Cause everything that you thought I would be
Has fallen apart right in front of you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
Every step that I take is another mistake to you
(Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow)
And every second I waste is more than I can take

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

And I know
I may end up failing too
But I know
You were just like me with someone disappointed in you

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I've become so tired so much more aware
I'm becoming this all I want to do
Is be more like me and be less like you

I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
I've become so numb I can't feel you there
I'm tired of being what you want me to be
